Well, in my opinion, I doubt the digital way of obtaining music is going to fade at all since it's so convenient and cheap so to me I think in years time (5-10) music will be free. I think artists will rely more on publicity and other outlets for their income (such as perfumes, merchandise, tours) rather than album and single sales. Celebs already make enough money from these things to never have to record again.

I think unless youtube becomes even more of a household item than it already is, music videos will fade or become VERY simple. I think sadly artists won't want to put so much effort into something people rarely see, even these days. It'll be time and money soon. then again it could go in the exact opposite direction too and videos could become more important than the music altogether.

I see music becoming, obviously, very electronic. It already kind of is (most of the top 40 has something electro to it) and I guess as computer music programs become more advanced, it's only natural that producers and musicians would be trying it out and wanting to push new boundaries with it (look at the success Justin Timberlake has had with his new electro-pop sound).

baroque

ever heard of futurepop..you should check it out its Ebm/synth pop/Darkwave acts like
VNV NATION
COVENANT
AURAL VAMPIRE, ETC
CRUXSHADOWS

while it has elements of you know blade runner or anything of that sort..i think their will be a big avant garde movement in music in the future..a new genre will errupt..then slowly dimish as alot of record companies will market on that, then people will be interested in old music again..and so the cycle begins again.
