The problem with AWD which I'm sure you already ran into is that if you read the fine print in the owners maual You can not buy just one tire when you have a blow out, it needs all 4. This is never explained by the salesmen when the car is sold. Instead the owners wait and get hysterical with me when one tire ends up being $690.00

TY for this info - I had not run into it as when I do get new tires ( i JUST did last week rolleyes mad ) I buy all 4 new ones anyway

If I had known how hard I would fall in love with the damned things, I never would have gotten behind the wheel of one. 'Till then, I was happily certain that I would always drive a Toyota. Would have saved me a lot of money. rolleyes

I have a V12, it only becomes an enviromental issue if it's your daily driver. I have a little tiny motorcycle and an escort for everyday use

Meh. . . I'm not a daily driver, but it's still an environmental issue. I don't want to feel any worse than I already do about driving my car.

Plus, I LOVE my 325 convertible. mr.green

MY vision of a perfect society would have people in tiny commuter vehicles sipping gas, alcohol, or electricity, and living close to work. Then I don't feel the people who enjoy cars for sport would be an issue.

I loved my Porsche 944's, I could drive around all day and it was only a staight 4

Sure, if we could reduce emissions in other ways, than gas efficiency of the cars we drive for fun wouldn't be a problem. nod

Audi Allroad,

Not an SUV so better on the gas, AWD or 4WD, the dogs gonads in style and engineering. Having said that, if you don't need the space then any AUDI quatro will deal with a mountainous driveway.

Go Japanese for reliability and price maintenance, Rav4 or Honda CRV. RAV4 has hit best in class for years. Nissan and Toyota trucks are the most rugged you can get.
