got the i-touch ipod today

This thing is thin!!! It looks like its too much work for me.

This was originally my son's, but he got in trouble at school so guess what??

ITS MINE....sad part is he worked to pay for it. He barely started high school and has already been suspended for being BAD. He was fairly warned!!!!

OH WELL.....

early xmas gift to me smile

uhm, that's really bad IMO to take something someone puchased with thier own money as punishment.
Especially a child.
Now if you had bought it it would be a different story.
Give it back, he worked for it.

Ever since this kid was born, he has had everything he has ever wanted.
He started acting up in Jr high and has contined to get worse are the years go by.
He is attending weekly counseling, and tough love has still hasnt taken affect on him.
So I figure take what he bought, from his hard earned moneyfrom him, and maybe he will understand.....
He thinks that since he has been spolied, he can do whatever he wants. If I take things it will be a short term thing, no sweat.....

But NO, I will not be keeping it, he will get it back at xmas time.

I agree too. Punishment should fit the crime.

But, that's easy to say from my vantage point. shrug

Not being judgemental !!!

Somebody spoiled him ...
Taking that one thing he worked for is not the right message.
Taking everything from him and giving back piece by piece as rewards is a better approach IMO.
Do you attend counseling with him ? I think you should if you're not already doing so. Change will only happen if all parties involved are open to change.

I had this friend who had a door in his bedroom that opened into the garage, and he could come and go as he pleased.

Weel, one day while in high school, he pushed his Dad too far. Dude comes home, opens the door to the garage, and finds it completely bricked up. He's so pissed that he hits the wall, breaking his hand in the process.

I'd laugh real hard right now except he currently lives in Rancho Santa Fe, so I hope h and his family are safe.

Jeannie babes i think you did the right thing. I was thinking about this in bed last night (i didn't wanna react in an instant like i do boxed) and i think you were dead right to do what you did.
We have spoken alot about what is going on with your son and this is a lesson that needs to be learned. All these people saying "he paid for it you can't take it" ...well there is a precedent within society and therefore a lesson in what you did.

If i park in the wrong place i pay a fine from MY money
If i speed i pay a fine from MY money
If i dont pay my taxes i pay a fine from MY money
If i dont pay my fines i get my car,my house or other goods removed that I paid for.

Life is full of lessons and if, for your son, the kid lessons are no longer teaching him that action has consequence then he needs to learn the adult lessons sooner rater than later.

Make him watch Graffiti Bridge, and write a literary critique on it.
