Lancing big painful infected boils!!!-what did you do at work today !!! just finished nightshift
Amongst many others had a patient with a cellulitic abscess on his thigh(a big ass boil) gave him entinox(laughing gas) and injected him with xlgnocaine(local anaesthetic)-i have never seen a male with a lower pain threshhold ..and i got to work! sliced it open with a sterile blade and watched that pus and blood oooooze out! i drained that infection filled boil for ten minutes! packed it,dressed it,gave him antibiotics and bade him on his way! poor guy to make matters worse he had just taken crystal meth for the 1st ever time as well! ..just thought id share that!

I would tell you what I did at work today, but it would give you nightmares.
I'm firmly planted in denial

What's your job? My son got a MRSA infection last summer and in a matter of days he had a knot on the back of his leg as big as a baseball and it was dark blue/black. It oozed a little on it's own, but my doctor told me to take him to the pediatric ER. They wanted to cut it open with a local. I told him over my dead body. This area was so painful that he could hardly walk and he couldn't put even the slightest pressure on his leg. I would try and very very gently blot the pus up, but he would scream every time. So, they did conscious sedation and the doctor said the pus had hardened and he actually had to dig it and pick it out with tweezers. I felt so sorry for him. But, once they did that he felt so much better and he was obviously given antibiotics. But, to answer your question my most exciting thing today was laundry.

ew.
this morning i proctored an exam for a student with learning disabilities. i wasn't allowed to explain anything and the time limits worked against him; it was so goddamn frustrating seeing him try to rush through it and not being able to help him that i wanted to cry. crappy day.

With that boil.....are you sure he's not doing skin popping? Subcutaneous injection of drugs? Sometimes they get infected and need incised and drained.
