PLASTIC SURGERY

I am seriously thinking about getting a tummy tuck. I am fed up with my tummy and want a nice flat one. I have scars from operations on my stomach and the next time I have an operation I will get velcro put in!!!

But seriously it is an important step and I have decided to go ahead but does anyone have any advice to give me on how to go about it and what the pitfalls are and what surgeon to chose?

Don't go to a "cosmetic surgeon" to perform a procedure... that's just a doctor that is calling themselves whatever they want. You need to find a Plastic Surgeon and there is a directory (apparently) that some association keeps.

Thanks for your advice. I have looked on the internet and the prospect looks daunting. As I live in England I will look for the appropriate directory for Plastic Surgeons etc. I will be getting it done about Xmas time. It looks as though it will cost about £6,000. (gulp!) eek

Wow you are brave, if I wasnt so scared of pain I would probably get one too lol People I've seen look great after getting one done, a co-worker got one done and she was back at work 2 weeks after getting it done. She says the first days were torture though, seems like you heal fast.

Just do your home work, don't just pick the first doctor you go to.

You said that you have scars on your tummy from previous surgeries, did you know that a tummy tuck will leave you with a smile line from one end to another across entire pelvic area shaped sort ta like ^^. With any surgery it's always a good idea to be informed of what's involved. If you tend to obtain keyloids easily seek a surgeon that knows how to work with skin of color, expect realistic results, I have a friend who regrets it, but don't let me discourage you, walking in well informed will always end in good results smile

It makes me sad to see that you ladies are so unhappy with your bodies that you're ready to let someone cut you up with a scalpel. confused I have never seen a woman and thought "she needs plastic surgery" but there have been plenty of times when I've seen a woman and thought "she shouldn't have had that plastic surgery".

Dont think I would consider a boob lift or a tummy tuck plastic surgery
I call re-constructive surgery.....

Do plastic surgeons off group rates?
Maybe we can get everyone on the org together who wants a little nip & tuck, and make a party out of it.

Go for it!
Ask around about a good plastic surgeon. Board certified is a must.(Hairdressers always seem to know the good ones.)
You'll be hunched over for a month, the skin is pulled down, and a new opening made for the navel. You can choose to have a straight across incision or a "V" for thong swimsuits. Your abdomen will feel like it's on fire for the 1st few days, but you'll get pain meds. It's an overnight stay in the hospital.
