eating at work

Once upon a time I wouldn't have been caught dead eating at my desk. Breakfast was unheard of and I'd scurry away to the lunch room or a restaurant. Eating and working simply didn't mix.
Now, however, I go grocery shopping once a week at work. I find that I eat more cheaply and better for me when I do.
Now I eat breakfast AND lunch at my desk while working. I'm currently enjoying some Kashi Go Lean Crunch with some Dannon Light & Fit vanilla yogurt. For lunch I plan to have carrots and some red pepper hummous and if I get snacky in the afternoon, I have a couple of plums in the fridge.

Is this bizarre? Have I turned into that person at work?

Do you eat at your desk?

I've heard eating at your work is more unhygenic than eating around a toilet due to the mass condension of germs. This naturally put me off although I have the odd biscuit with a cup of tea.

hmmm

But I eat at my own desk. And no one else sits here. And I have a rather large "cube" so it's not like anyone's coughing on my things in passing...

I averaged 70 hour weeks all summer long, sometimes it was more. My meals consisted of what I could eat while driving, or fast food tucked away in stacks of auto parts.

I've heard stories that apparently there was a woman who worked at my old job who used to make soup at here desk. Someone walked by one day when she was chopping carrots and celery and throwing them into a hot pot. falloff

The nature of my job doesn't allow me to leave for breaks, so the staff have to eat within the station. However we have a kitchen right behind us and another one upstairs smile

We decided to have "rootbeer float" day one day - our boss just grinned at us, He likes icecream wink

I eat at my desk all the time. I have no shame. I cant, I work 14 hour days, rarely take a break, and hardly ever go out to lunch.
Its sad to say, but this is my home, I spend more time here than at home

90% of the time, I carry both breakfast and lunch to work -- and eat at my desk. Breakfast is usually cottage cheese and berries. Lunch is whatever I fix on Sunday for the week -- chili, zucchini and meatballs, chicken tikka masala, pork paprikash, etc. (I don't mind eating the same lunch Mon-Thurs as long as it's something I like.)

I've been doing it this way ever since I quit eating most processed food and started cooking. I use my actual "lunch hour" to work out.

All I eat at my desk is my Pan Dulce with coffee. The pan dulce is basically sugar. I need to bring something healthy.

I've rarely worked at places where it would be sanitary to eat (though, some techs DID eat lunch in the lab at one of the vet clinics, until management noticed and told them to knock it the fuck off ill ).

I don't know. I like meals to be a bit of slow-down time, in one form or another. But I don't think it's weird or anything.

Very nice.

I would if I could, but my desk is in the middle of a laboratory. We can't even have lotion or chapstick here, let alone water or food. The breakroom is on the other side of the building, so I go days without eating or drinking save for secret swigs of water out of my hidden bottle in my desk.

I always eat breakfast at my desk because I don't get up early enough to eat at home and I am usually not hungry. I keep yougart, fruit, cereal, bread and jam in the fridge at work. For lunch lately I have been bringing stuff in. Sometimes we go out, but my $$$ has been funny lately so its cheaper to bring lunch from home.

I eat at my desk all the time, I have breakfast, lunch and snacks at my desk, thank goodness I can if not I would be starving in the morning. And I also do my makeup at my desk which I shouldnt redface but it's either while driving on my way to work or at my desk, so my desk it is since there is less of a chance of an accident at my desk lol

I should eat at my desk. We have a break room for the 6 of us that work in my department. We make sausage/eggs/bacon for breakfast and have huge lunches and then one of us always wants to be bad and get a Meeting Street cookie. Now mind you, these cookies are $5 and the size of my face.

I never ate breakfast at work but the policy here is you have to come to the break room in the morning so boss knows you're here on time. I used to just go to my desk. So the normal university workday starts at 8:30am but that's when our breakfast starts....we don't get to work till 9:30!!!! I guess I can't complain, other than I'm getting FAT.

In Japan we didn't have a lunch break per se, just a half hour of lunch time when we were expected to work and eat at the same time, while a twenty-second clip of a Carpenter's song was looped in the speakers, every day, every week, every month. confused

Good thing we used chopsticks, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to use the knife hand for writing and typing and turning book pages as they expected us to...
