Are you thrifty or a big spender?

I guess this topic is a spin off on my other one. When I was younger, I used to be a horrible spender. I would spend money on a whim and use plastic. Now if I don't have the cash, I don't buy it. I get just as much satisfaction buying something cool from a dollar store as I would buying a 80 dollar medium rare steak with wine. Actually, I get more of a buzz when I get something on sale or dirt cheap. Some things (home owners insurance, T.V.'s, Furniture, suits) you can't go cheap on, but for the most part anything else is fair game. I guess I'm a tightwad that splurges every now and again. What about you?

most times you get what you pay for - when I want the best I pay the tag

when second best is desired I pay that

when bargin bin is wanted I take that as well

I don't do credit - havent for yrs

Cash all the way ( or debit card )

I save $ every week and can go for yrs without touching it ( savings account )

AND IF I want to spend a thousand in one weekend I do that as well

peace!

Ottensen

a combination of BOTH. To EXTREMES.

I will walk an extra ten blocks to the farmer's market to purchase broccoli or sweet potatoes, even if it's only 30 cents less than the supermarket across the street from my flat.

I keep a gigantic piggy bank with spare change that I bag and turn in to my bank account every year. I use it for something insane like a day trip to Tuscany, or the Cote D'azur in the southeast of France. I'll spend a maximum of 80 bucks on the airplane shuttle roundtrip, but treat myself to a suite overnight with insanely expensive food and the cultural activity of my choice, without looking at the cost. It's a 36 hour thing that's fun to do for me to relieve work stress.

Then next days at home I go back to scrutinizing local prices of dishwashing liquid, peanut butter, and arugula falloff

nod I buy all generic brands, just to save 20 cents, and get clothes second hand, furniture from the nature strip, but if I want a new camera I go and get one.

For the most part, I'm a thrifty girl, though I find most of my things are kinda "nice" thrifty. lol Ikea and Target, not Kmart and Goodwill, if you will. It takes a lot for me to spend a lot on something. The most expensive item in my home is my laptop, and that took me years to convince myself to buy. lol
On the other hand, I don't clip coupons, I don't buy generic brand things and I spend what I want when I want to go out. It's all a balance, I suppose.

I'm not a big spender really. I used to spend far too much money on CDs but I've stopped all that now. I've never been a materialistic person anyway.

I'm very thrifty and I learned it from the queen of finding sales - My Mom lol

I buy just about everything on sale. I love my local Dollar Tree. I don't have a credit card, so if I can't afford it, I don't buy it. If a purchase is not necessarily needed immediately, I always look through the weekly ads to compare prices, so that I could get the best deal for whatever I'm buying nod

I know how to be thrifty. When I'm in the right mindset, I enjoy it. And I NEED TO FIND THE RIGHT MINDSET. lol

I have to cancel my credit cards. That's all there is to it. To hell with what it does to my credit rating. So what if I have to beg/borrow in an emergency. It's killing me. On a responsible day, I care about debt. But I have a lot of irresponsible days, and a lot of debt to show for it. Each time I pay it off, I charge it back up twice as fast. rolleyes

I'm a student. I need to act like it.

Problem is, I have really good taste. falloff

Ahem. neutral
