Human Burial Ground in Back Garden Just had a chat with the Surveyor for a new house we are buying. I was expecting, the usual, comments like the roof leaks, cellar is a bit damp, some of the eaves may need replacing, bathroom needs updating. I was not expecting him to tell me that there is a medieval burial ground in the back garden!
It’s an old house but shit me!! Apparently used to be the site of the local church pre 14th Century and during foundation work next door they found human remains. Some of which extend to (and beyond) the boundary with the property we are buying, ie the back garden. I can’t get the image of the swimming pool at the end of Poltergeist out of my mind Plus side, do you think this is worth renegotiating the offer price? Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

Don't think we knew about indians then so it is highly unlikely that one found his (or her) way over to jolly old England and died in bedfordshire. but you never know Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Why? It's no big deal at all, but you might be able to get your price reduced (because of people who think like Luv).

Just as long as it is not an indian buriel ground. I use to own a condo in 1990, that burned down in a massive fire here in Santa Barbara. When we were trying to rebuild, it turned out it was on a ancient indian buriel ground!! It took a year of court battles to be able to get the permit to rebuild!!

as long as you aren't planning on building said swimming pool i think it's kind of neat.
centuries of civilization no matter where you tread but you have a bit of history right there now, the house how old is the house? mine was built in 1940 and considered old around these parts
