OK, here's the post that got lost...

I'm currently avoiding packing. neutral

I'm slowly doing the things I need to do to move. I've gone through my desk, my storage space and my bathroom and thrown out 6 bags of "things", packed up 5 boxes of books, filled my backpacking pack and carry-on luggage with clothes, filled 3 bags of clothes for goodwill, but I'm just not motivated. I worry about what I'll need out and available for the next week. I do one thing for 20 minutes and then stall by smoking or finding a new CD to listen to, or checking in on the org.

I think I work better under pressure. I'll probably be packing like a demon next Saturday until the movers get here Sunday at 2pm.

What motivates you in silly chores?

I don't procrastinate all that much...one of the few redeeming qualities I have biggrin ...my main motivation to get things done is so that I dont have anything to do later....simple as it seems, thats just my way...I think it proves that I'm willing to work to be lazy...

It IS very gemini of me. lol You should see my apartment. My CDs are half gone through, I have a box and a half filled with dvds, and then I abandoned that, I've started and stopped on my clothes closet more times than I can rememeber. redface I start one thing and can't stick to it so I start something else. The result is a MESS. lol

At least you have movers coming. That's half the battle right there.

thats how i am too.

but i can understand what your doing carrie. your "now" will come and you will get it all done right when you need to in just the time to move out.

dont sweat it. i mean, if your going to spend time figuring out how to do it? why not just do it? your will power has to take over. thats all.

I can be a terrible procrastinator. Especially when I have reports due that are not due immediately. I generally wait until the last minute to write them and send them in. I think I do better work that way.

i am the queen of procrastination. i'd unplug your internet until you've accomplished everything on your "to-do" list today biggrin

*too late for you now i suppose but i love a wardrobe box. you hang everything in there and can use out of the box till you tape it up moving day.

*do you pack an "open me first" box? sheets for the bed. bath towel. toilet paper. light bulbs. extension cord. hammer and screw driver. plastic glass and utensils. and whatever else you can think of.

*nothing gets you motivated like taking your bed apart.

*live out of a suitcase for the next week. pack like you are going on a trip. everything else gets packed away.

*i bought something like this at staples... and i love it. made wrapping stuff up so much faster. wrap drawers shut on furniture. wrap a blanket over your mirror. wrap a cord to an appliance. it's awesome.

and remember cleaning always takes longer than you think. hrmph i had a great moving and cleaning checklist from somewhere online but can't find it now.

good luck! smile

Carrie that sounds like my kind of festival. You should definitely make it to that event. Events like those are a celebration of the palate.

I can really identify with this topic though; it seems the less time I have to do something, the more productive I am. If I have a lot of time to spread a job out over, I tend to make a pretty bad job of it. lol

That is so me!

I use to be the type to put things off until the last min, then work like hell and get it done. I LOVED working like that and felt I "did my best work under pressure"

Now, I still do that...but don't have the steam to do the "work like hell" part and in the end I end up not getting things done.

It's pathetic. sad
