I thought Townsend did alright in his years. Hollywood Shuffle, Eddie Murphy: RAW, Five Heartbeats and of course Robert Townsend's Partners in Crime.
He was part of "the Black Pack" along with Keenen, Paul Mooney, Arsenio Hall and the main attraction Eddie Murphy. PRINCE: Always and Forever

But after the Five HB & Partners in Crime he got corny FAST (not that he wasn't always corny, but he was still funny so it was okay). I didn't follow him into that tv show & whatever else he's been doing.

That was awesome. I am a big fan of Robert Townsend. What was the name of the show that they had on HBO or Showtime back in the late 80s early 90s called? And they had the soap opera style show "The Big, the Bold, the Beautiful" or something like that. “When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist.” Brazilian bishop Dom Hélder Câmara

Robert Townsend's Partners in Crime. He did 4 specials for HBO. He also had a sketch/variety show in 1993 called Townsend Television. PRINCE: Always and Forever
