Their coffee is overly expensive and the flavor is a toss up, either you get a good cup or an awful cup that tastes like it was overly burnt or the pots were not cleaned. All you others say Hell Yea!!

You know what is evil?
That they call their Caramel Macchiato a macchiato is evil. That shit is NOT a macchiato. A macchiato is caffeinated poetry. . .a shot of espresso with a very small amount of milk, usually in the form of foam. The little bit of milk traps some of the very volatile oils that otherwise evaporate rapidly from a shot of espresso, so the experience of enjoying good espresso can be slowed down a bit and savored. The Starbucks thing is basically a vanilla caramel latte. Which is fine, but it ain't a macchiato. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Vivace and Victrola are my favs. I'll take you sometime. I know I'm a snob. And I really do know that there are more important things in life. I'm WAY not above a cup of diner coffee under the right circumstances. But good espresso is its own thing. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

I'm not a big coffee drinker.....I'll have a hot cup every now and then. I do like the sweet, cold coffee drinks though. My cousin just started working there, so I've gone there a few times because of that. She gets free bags of coffee every week, and she doesn't even drink coffee all that much, so she just gives it out to those who want it. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Well, Anx during my java pursuits, I've found that different Starbucks approach frap and cappucs differently. Like the one near where I live for example, like I stated in the thread previously, they're notoriously known for putting too much milk topping on your coffee. Whereas, when I visited another Starbucks, my experience was entirely differently and the coffee wasn't warm enough. Of course after that experience, I vowed to stick to either Borders or local java spots. that's exactly why i won't get coffee at a dunkin donuts. their coffee blends are supposed to be so great, but i've been to DDs in new york, chicago and indianapolis and every time i gave them a chance, the coffee was waaaay too milky...PLUS they won't let you add your own cream, so you can't even remedy the situation yourself! who needs that? i love their bavarian creme donuts, but that's as far as i can go with them!

Speaking of monopolies that are addictive money-grabbers, have you - Axiety - or anyone else, tried McDonald's new Iced Coffee????
Yummers -- the regular flavor (not hazelnut or vanilla) is very addictive! [Edited 9/24/07 13:16pm]

Anx, I wouldn't knock until you try it. One morning, I was heading to a meeting and I figured I'll try the java for the hell of it. And, it wasn't bad at all. They use some good quality beans and you can tell this in the taste.

taken from www.pitchforkmedia.com:
Selling out just ain't what it used to be. The concept is as ambiguous and potentially moot as ever, but now it usually comes with handy explanatory quotes. Just ask Kim Gordon, who, along with the rest of Sonic Youth, has taken some flak for choosing to release the band's forthcoming celebrity-studded tribute compilation, Hits Are for Squares, via Starbucks.
Or rather, let videographer Liz Glover ask Gordon for you. During New York City's recent Fashion Week, Glover approached Gordon to ask exactly why the band chose to go with Starbucks. The result is a short clip featuring Gordon's pithy, pretty awesome reply: "They're less evil than Universal." (Universal being Universal Music Group, parent company of Sonic Youth's label, Geffen Records.) Last we heard, the compilation's release was "technically a joint effort between Starbucks Entertainment and Universal Special Markets," so the logistics are still complex. Nonetheless, Kim Gordon: 1, Universal: 0. [Edited 9/26/07 7:12am]
