So I finally heard back from the Real Detroit people and they've made an oh-so-American decision: They're not going to hire anyone else, they're just going to give their staffers more work. So even after their job posting on Monster and Media Bistro, even after telling me they needed someone "right away," even after a spent $150 on new clothes for the interview...they decided they didn't need anyone after all.

I think tonight I'll be dancing with my friend Jack Daniels for a while.

But thank you all so much for your prayers and thoughts. If the publisher wasn't such a cheap idiot, I know I would've gotten the job.

After slaving away in Toledo, Ohio--the most backwards-assed hamlet outside of Taylor, Michigan--I got a call for a job interview with Real Detroit, the big ass A&E weekly paper in D-Town. They're looking for an editor-in-chief and I'm currently in charge of 4 different papers for the group I work for in Toledo. Needless to say, I could do this job blindfolded.

More importantly, this would allow me to return to Detroit--the only city outside of the Pacific Northwest that ever felt like home. I miss the multiculturalism. I miss the concerts. I miss my friends (one in particular. She knows who she be.). I miss the fact that when you go on vacation and say you're from Detroit, everyone's scared of you.

I want to go home.

Please, everyone, keep me in your prayers. My interview is Friday at 3 p.m. Eastern time.

Breaking news! OK, just got back from Detroit. The interview went well. Very well in fact. It's kinda funny, though--the publisher of the paper is nice...but doesn't know a THING about the publishing industry. That paper NEEDS me. Simple as that. Now, as long as they meet my salary requirement...
