Anyone else buying the "Cruising" DVD? Just curious how many other Orgers are fans of this Al Pacino/William Friedkin cop thriller. This is that movie that gay activists picketed like crazy when it was released, saying it presented a nuanced view of gay life. Of course, time changes all viewpoints and most gay critics today call the film "ahead of its time," "brave," etc.
After years of delays, it arrived on DVD today. Did anybody else buy a copy or plan to? "So whaddya want? Hips or lips?" PS: Actually, I think "Cruising"'s kind of a shitty movie. But its kitsch value makes it perfect for making a commentary track with your friends.

I like its ambiguity. I'm going to get a copy.
I don't know why it was so hated by gay groups at the time. I've seen it a few times on the telly and only discovered recently that it was commercially unavailable (until today).
