But it depends how long they have been together.... if I just started seeing a guy, diamonds would freak me out.

How about a watch?

A watch could be nice...or how about just taking her shopping for a new outfit...always good! Or a purse! If she likes purses!

if only. so...she's an actress, a dancer, a singer...pretty much an all round performer. she's into silly comedies like anything by Ben Stiller and she loves Meatball films like SuperBad. She also loves serious films like Memoirs of A Geisha and Whalerider.
She's a personal trainer at the moment but that doesnt capture her long term goals.

anything else?

What kind of dance does she do? That could help pick out a gift!

roses..try writting a poem..make it something minimal, if you go for the materialist root what feeling does that show her? give her something that is close to your heart, or an expression of your love to her.

Because diamonds are a serious gift.... they are expensive...If it's a baby relationship you don't know where it's leading you are just having fun together and diamonds are serious and expensive, they connotate a a vested interest.
at the start of a realtionship I'm just not there yet and I wouldn't want a guy to be there either, then I'd feel pressured.

I think it's safe to say that diamonds are appropriate when you are at or close to the one year mark.

But this is just me, and I'm a little screwy in my thinking at times.

Does she have a digital camera? They're fairly cheap these days - even the big brand names like Fuji and Panasonic do low-price budget models.

You could then take her for a picnic on top of a mountain or in your favourite spot, so she can use the camera.

I'd love that. I really would.
