Epiphany, though I find it's a bit over-used, it's always fun to say!

I first saw it in a Shane Battier interview, his sophomore year at Duke. Then, it became one of those things where, upon seeing it, you see it again and again and hear it all the time. It was in a SI interview though. Shane Battier, such a great man! love

Anyhow, besides epiphany, I don't have a "favorite" word. I do particularly enjoy reading maps of the world, though. Those can provide endless hours of entertainment. I tend to read the world maps in U.S. History, because it keeps me awake. I sit in my seat, trying to pronounce city names, which, throughout the Asian countries, and Africa, and the Middle East can be particularly challenging. Even Russia provides a little fun...I find where Alex is from, Pskov, to be fun to say, because it sounds like I'm say "piss off." biggrin

Maps are great!

Maps are the best! 2 of my favorite countries are the former Czechoslovakia and Uzbekistan, as they just look so cool! I love the capital of Chad too- N'Djamena. Madagascar has a nice one too- Antananarivo.

Yes! I think the best country in all of Africa is "Namibia." Just say it. "Namibia." It's fun, yes? I remember when Jeff Corwin went to Namibia for his show. Caught a Black Mamba smile

Anyhow, maps are great! I've been looking over Antarctica a lot lately, Ian, so as to see who owns what down there. smile

Mr. Taylor was particularly angry with me recently for concentrating on a map, rather than him. I have a large physical map on the wall by my desk, and I look at it a lot, you know, and I was looking through the Pacific Islands, and he got all pissy. Told me I should be a stewardess one day so I could see all these places and so on.

Yay for maps! I'm glad you share my appreciation.

My college actually had a study-abroad program in Namibia, based in Windhoek! It IS a cool country, but I'm partial to Zambia, Mozambique, Gabon, Maurtania, Mali, Egypt and Cameroon. When I was 5 I wrote a song called "Mali Gabon Cameroon," so you can see that my geography fixation is long-running!

Antarctica is a funny case. Both Chile and Argentina lay claims to it. Argentina actually tried to justify its claim by having a pregnant citizen fly there to have her baby- the first person born in Antarctica!

You know, we are officially guilty of thread-jacking. smile Why, if I had an orgnote left...Anyhow, back in elementary school, we had county geography bees, of which I have trophies for 3 years running. But it wasn't all location...Lots of cultural questions and the like, you know. Of course.

Anyhow, I wish I had a huge map of Russia, and not just because of Alex, either. Russia is great, it's huge...Have you observed all the rivers?
