Is anyone else FORCED to wear brown lip liner?!

Apparently, there are only 2 parts of my body that insist on being Mexican, one being my lips!

OK, My dad is Mexican and my Mom is half English and half Spanish.

Unlike my younger Sister, I took more after my mom's side as my skin is fairer than hers. She took more of the Mexican Side. However if I'm in the sun, I darken pretty well, but I really hate the heat so I do avoid it mostly. Well the sun that I do get has resulted in something that really bothers me! I have these damn brown lines and patches around my lips! It wouldn't be so bad if my skin evenly tanned or changed but that seems to be the only part that wants to darken and stay dark.

I don't know how it's perceived in real life but sometimes I see pictures and it looks like I forgot to wipe food off my mouth! Like I'm a damn slob! disbelief

confused Does this happen to anyone else? If so, how the hell do I get rid of it! mad mad mad

its called hyperpigmentation, my daughters get that where they just gets darker in certain areas, and my oldest one her scars get dark too.

stop licking your lips for one and use a lip balm with sunscreen (YEAR ROUND) and it should fade eventually. Actually you may want to check all your products for this chemical, damn I forgot what its called but it actually turns some areas darker if you have this problem.

i do it too. like anyone's really going to notice or care if don't smudge my eyeliner the right way, but does that stop me from fixing it neurotically until it's perfect? no. lol

OMG. and the vein in my forehead is SO prominent and i'm self-conscious about it, but every time i mention it to someone they say it's not noticeable. duh

My scars get dark too! eek

Do you think it could really go away? And I'd have to put that sunblock on the outside of my lips and then I would look like I don't know how to color in the lines! lol To give you an idea of the potential my skin could have if I went hardcore in the sun, here is my dad:

Although I probably wouldn't get that dark still lol Did I ever tell you I might have a black brother or sister! biggrin Back before my parents got together my dad was seeing this black girl and one day she just up and disappeared. There were rumors that my dad had gotten her pregnant but it was never proven. I'd love it if I had a black twin! lol

Oh, I have had black in me. His name was Tim batting eyes

use lipbalm with sunscreen like the carmex veronika was talking about. It will fade. Both my girls get darker around the lips in the winter from licking their lips, they use the balm and they are good by the spring sooner if they stop licking their lips.

yeah I know you have had black in you...me too but not lately falloff

Papi is a handsome man...no wonder the sista was letting him hit that.

Wow Supa! you once told me you had a mexican dad but I pictured him light skined! I am hispanic with tan skin, and my middle daughter is as white as the white kids next door!! so I know how that goes..

I do feel your pain about the lips though, as a child I had very dry skin....and as a result I always had chapped lips, not only did my lips chap though, the skin around my lips would peel! I grew out of that stage, so I am lucky. But I do know how you feel. By the way, I say people are busy staring at your gorgeous green eyes, to notice any brown around your lips!

You have a sexy mouth. smile

I would never have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. But it bothers you, so. . .

I'd suggest using a moisturizer with high-SPF sunscreen every day, and maybe also using a mild self-tanner. There are several on the market now that are mixed with moisturizers and are meant to just provide a LITTLE color and look natural. The combination should even you out eventually, but it will take time (months, probably).

http://www.drugstore.com/...atid=94185

Or, if you don't wanna go the tanner route, this:
http://www.drugstore.com/...atid=21503

They also have slightly tinted moisturizers, which basically have a touch of makeup in them, and that can even you out too, without going the tanning route. You could also add a little liquid foundation in the right color (ask a makeup-savvy girl to help you lol) to any moisturizer and get a customized effect.
