I'm sorry but my friends who are 0s do NOT look like that. They are thin but not that thin.

That might be a size 0 for someone that is 5'10....not someone that is like 5'4.

The average person that wears that size is not that sickly looking thin.

Just an FYI you can be rail thin or at your ideal weight and still be at risk for problems. Be more concerned about your body fat % then a so called ideal weight. Ok I'm done lol

nod It's called BMI. If you work out your BMI and compare it to the chart of BMI age:weight thingy you can see if you are perfect, underweight, or overweight.

Actually, be even more concerned with your overall health. Being average weight does not automatically make one healthy. There are plenty of people that eat crap and are killing themselves (via heart disease, high blood pressure, etc) and while doing it they don't gain a pound.

BMI is actually a load of BS...since muscle weighs more than fat...a perfectly healthy, larger framed person with low body fat can still be in the "overweight" range according to the BMI scale.

There are far better ways to measure body fat levels. BMI contributes to people's obsession with numbers on the scale...which I feel is very unhealthy.

thumbs up!

Anyhoo, a better way to determine fat levels is hydrostatic weighing. Yes, it's not very practical since it's not readily available...and I think that BMI is a decent way to get a rough idea of where you might fall but (I feel) no one should live by those numbers as the results can be a little deceiving. In regards to obesity related diseases, a fairly good way to measure whether you are at a higher risk is to do the waist to hips ratio.
