Well, in the end I've gone for a brown trouser without pleats, a dark brown shoe (that I have already), and a very light (slightly see-through) white/cream shirt with a bit of a fancy pattern. Oh, and a dark brown belt that I'm pretty happy with. All in all though, after I came home and the more I thought about it, it's all a bit Saturday Night Fever.

In all seriousness wear something Thai.
I don't understand why "great taste" has to equate to western tastes. A thai silk shirt, and simple slacks is fucking hawt. It makes me think of that stupid ass James Bond movie where he's in thailand and somebody offers him Fu-Yuk wine. And he winces at the name, you know, and then sips it, and gives his western "approval" of it Fuck that shit. Put on a sarong boy!

I wear those Thai style kaftans and whatnot all the time, and fisherman pants, so I wanted something different. I don't dress up a lot so a nice shirt and pair of pants were the order of the day. Plus Mon already bought a western style evening dress. I think I made a mistake with my clothes though. I also spent a lot by Thailand standards. I saw a shirt for 420 baht ($13) on sale but slightly preferred another one that was 1,600 baht ($50) and went for that one instead. This is all coming out of the money for the wedding but was never budgeted for. I also bought another pair of flip-flops for the Phuket trip.

[Edited 9/12/07 19:41pm] I like that, but my budget wouldn't really have stretched to a jacket. I basically spent $95 and decided to wear shoes I already have. This was all an afterthought as we'd only really considered our clothes for the wedding day and something a bit more casual for part of the wedding photo package.
