Fashion help please Ok, so it's my father's 60th in November and Mon and I are going for a nice meal with my parents, aunts, my brother and his gf while they're over in Thailand. Mon's already sorted with a nice long kinda chocolate coloured dress like this (though obviously not the colour)
I'm just wondering what I should wear. I was thinking maybe a pair of brown trousers. Not completely smart, but not like jeans or anything. Just a quite loose fitting pair of brown trousers, but not baggy. Would I wear a brown belt? I want something with a simple, stylish rectangular buckle. Kinda sharp looking. But what kind of shirt? It should be tucked in, right? Short sleeves would be best but I guess I could have a long sleeved shirt and roll up a little to three quarter length. I'd like to be sharp looking, but not overly smart, and still kinda relaxed and comfortable considering the weather. Any suggestions?? Do you think you could post some pics to give me some ideas?

Brown pants (NO PLEATS and NOT BAGGY), brown belt, simple buckle. Brown shoes. Shirt should be somewhat fitted but not tight, long sleeved, tucked in. No tie.
I am gonna try and find some pics for you.

I would wear an AmeriKKKa t-shirt. It will let everyone know you're hardcore. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

I think you should wear the same dress...

I am and will always be a fan of khaki pants and white long sleeve shirts...it's classic, can be semi-formal or completely casual...works great with black or brown shoes and belt...it's simple, some say boring...but I say it's a hot look...untucked with sleeves rolled is good stuff! For your occasion I'd say tuck...

I am gonna try and find some pics for you. Yes, you're on my wavelength. No pleats, not too baggy. I mean smart, but not too smart. The shirt, belt, shoes will do that. Long-sleeved? I can't roll them up just a bit? Oh, and the pants I'm thiking of aren't all loose and swishy or shiny like the smart work trousers usually are. They're slightly thicker material. Would this work? . I have a pair of dark brown slip-ons already but they're kinda half-smart, half casual. Not sporty looking or anything but I'm thinking maybe too casual. Do I have to go and fork out for something like this?

I was always a khaki man but I need a change. I want to look sharp, but relaxed. And to look good with what Mon's wearing too. I suspect we'll be dressed up a little more than the others (especially my brother), but I figure there's no shame in looking smart.

Your choice of belt is good.
On a side note. I just got stood up...AGAIN.

true...but a good waterproofer works wonders... I have a pair similar to those that I had waterproofed, water just beads up on them and slids right off... these would do well in the rain... they may clash with your belt, though...

I think Erin's advise is spot-on. I'd only suggest you might consider a brown trouser with a very subtle chalk stripe or mini -- I stress mini --pinstripe. (Unless you're very tall, in which case a vertical stripe will just make you look like Taipei 101.) If your wife is wearing solid brown, you may not want to do the same, coming off too matchy matchy and, thus, corny. Here's what I have in mind from Banana Republic...

And, yes, a crisp, slightly fitted white button-down shirt would be perfect. No tie necessary... and NO short sleeves! Erin is right about that. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

What are you doing wrong?

I dunno...the finish/leather or something is "old" on the ones you showed. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. He was working on something late and thought that 12:30am was too late to come over. Wtf?

I like those trousers with those shoes. I'll look at some trousers like that today. I am tall at 6ft 3 but pinstriped trousers seem to look ok on me just as long as the trousers aren't too slim.
