I disagree.

Not offended. You probably have to feel some allegiance with the country and its name to feel anything personal about it, and I'm not exactly a patriot.

Additionally, it's a silly thing to be offended about. Absolutely silly.

People don't have to be guilty of racism to be offended. I mean. You could be 'Proud to be an American' and be offended I guess. Which I am not. lol

Lothan how do you feel about it?? Does it offend you? Or you could care less?

It's usually Americans spelling it like that!

I think this is a great point. It's like talking about how fucked up your own family is, but you get upset when an outsider calls your mother crazy.

As an American are you offended by the spelling AmeriKKKa?

I'm asking you cause I know that you are usually sensitvie to all scenarios where stereotypes/offensive stuff is being used.

Where I am the opposite. Not easily offended.

Sorry I know you didn't ask me, but I'm proud of Rock & Roll, Jazz, blues, R&B, hip hop, basketball, going to the moon, baseball, television, light bulbs...

The list of things I'm ashamed of is pretty long too.

that's a good point. the term "American" was kind of hijacked by the USA, but someone from Argentina is also American.

I used to be bothered by it but I'm not not anymore. It's a small mind that lowers itself to insults when it cannot offer up any actual debating skills.

I understand the reason and its a valid reason. I'm on the fence about it. Like I said. I'm not easily offended and I don't feel it applies to me. And as someone else pointed out, its a part of out history (for lack of better term since its not exactly HISTORY if it still exists).

But I do feel like its counter productive to spell America like that. Its a shameful part of our 'history', and not something I would like the COUNTRY associated with.

I wonder what ppl from other countries think when they see it.....

Teacher

I'm not American (as you can suspect from my sig evillol ) but I'm offended when people are unable to spell my country Sweden or my language Swedish correctly, and I consider people who can't spell countries/nationalities/languages properly stupid no matter which one it is.

I do agree

I dont care either way
but it doesnt detract from the fact that spelling AmeriKKKa or what ever,
this way
is ment to get a rise out of people, specifically white people.
So whats the disagreement about?
It was previously stated that it was political statement like flag burning.
Whats the point of a 'political' statement?

Dani, but it's not just "history". It's about the state of the country now.
