I guess, when you put it like that. Just making a political statement.

Like I said. My first reaction is always one a hurtful when I see it.

It just feels like it is a jab at the nation as a whole.

correction, it feels like a racist remark towards white people as a whole

and that is precisley what its intetions are

interesting thats how you take it. Maybe its a remark against RACIST america meaning those who are racist and just in all white people.

Interesting how just adding three letters generates such emotion.

I was just curious what others thought about it.

When I think KKK, I think horrible thoughts, and scary stuff, all that.

So when I see it in America it generates a reaction.

I'm not saying I'm mad that its used. To each his own.

Like I said. Just curious how others feel.

And its not baiting, just curiosity.

Something should only offend you if what someone is saying about you is actually the truth and you feel defensive about that fact.

Ok the three k's make a difference.... I agree with what you are saying Dani. nod

If spelling it with 3 k's is supposed to stir up emotion... the emotion it stirs up is not productive to anyone or anything... my twocents peace

Things like that don't offend me because I simply don't think it applies to me. So why bother defending it or be offended by it?

I'll let someone who it really applies to fight it out.

You know, actions speak louder than words. If someone wants to label me something that I am not, fine....let them, but those who really know me will see what I am really like and will see that this label is just bullshit.

i thought that was 'AmeriKKKa'? I've never seen 'AmeriKa'.

oh, and it doesn't offend me. in certain situations it seems a reflection of the truth.
[Edited 9/11/07 13:33pm]

Also, sometimes the spelling is simply a reflection of how America is spelled in certain countries based on their native language. For example we refer to country I live in known in the English langauge as Germany, although the German native name and spelling is DEUTSCHELAND. Other countries that we know in English such as Italy or Japan, are actually Italia and Nippon respectively. It pretty much just boils down to point of reference among the languages, and simple differences between native spellings vs. spellings from other countries cool

I think it applies to anyone that is American.

And I disagree about what will cause someone to be offended...

I get offended when people think things about me, and those I care about, that are not true. In fact I think it's frustrating as hell.

but that's just me.

Maybe I care about what others think a bit too much.

As for the topic...seeing "AmeriKKKa" does nothing to me, really. I've always seen it as an oversimplistic way of expressing a concern with a very real issue. Either that, or a somewhat juvenile attempt at insulting, whether it be a person or an entire population or a government. It's what else that is being said before and after "Amerikkka" that I pay attention to...

Somewhere along the way I figured out that it's better to let people who really have no clue, think the way they will think about me. It really just ends up showing how ignorant they are and in the end says more about them then it could ever say about me.

Way less stress this way.
