Spotting someone you know on the news! Have you ever spotted someone you know on the news? Why were they on and what did they do? I've just been forwaded the story about a guy I used to work with previous to his employment at my old job. He was a postman who was arrested after stealing money from birthday cards and delaying mail! There's Joy In Expatriation.

I've seen friends in the newspaper. They were photographed at an Anti-War rally holding a papier-mache George W. Bush above their heads and were interviewed en-route by Boris Johnson.

What for? I hope for bad reasons. All for Prince stuff. I've been spotted on the news from the last few celebrations, from the recent 7/7/07 stuff and was quoted in a St Paul newspaper. oh - and I was in the same paper many years ago for giving my opinion on some political thing - using public moneys for building a baseball stadium here. They took my picture and everything. |

Almost every time I choose to look at the obituaries, I know somebody. Other than that, I don't know many people who've been in the news other than school hacking scandals, sports stuff, and my own silly things. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

Evacuation follows Guadalupe derailment : Freight train bound for Oregon shuts down service
ANGEL PACHECO, NEWS-PRESS STAFF WRITER September 11, 2007 7:29 AM Seven railway cars carrying automobiles and beer derailed Sunday night in the City of Guadalupe near the intersection of Ninth and Obispo streets, resulting in an evacuation of nearby homes. The incident -- which occurred at 10:40 p.m. and involved a Union Pacific Railroad freight train -- closed down Highway 166 at Highway 1 until early Monday morning. Several railroad ties were damaged in the derailment, shutting down train services. The Chrysler PT Cruiser automobiles being transported also started leaking transmission fluid after the impact. Three of the railway cars involved were carrying the automobiles, and four were transporting beer. Four of the railway cars were knocked on their sides, while three were listing. The freight train was heading north from Colton to Oregon. Rail service was expected to resume at 10 p.m. on Monday, Union Pacific Railroad spokesman James Barnes said. The evacuation was ordered because of the proximity of the derailment to housing complexes along Pacheco Street, said Capt. Eli Iskow, spokesman for the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. The order was issued as soon as the Guadalupe Fire Department arrived on scene, and affected about 30 residents, Guadalupe Fire Chief Carmen Johnson said. The evacuation was scheduled to last until the track and railway cars were returned to order. Returning the cars to an upright position involved heavy construction equipment, including cranes, because some of the railway cars weighed more than one hundred tons, Chief Johnson said. Units from the Guadalupe Fire Department and the Santa Barbara County Fire Department originally responded to the scene. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation. My son Angel, is a writer for the Santa Barbara News-Press, so I see his name in the paper everyday.
