It was Back To School night at work I like back to school night cause you meet all sorts of interesting people and parents and see the kids in a different light. But damn, my lemon squares and orange juice was gone within like the first hour. Extra credit is always offered ( 20 points which is like a whole test grade in the class) but the only problem I always have is that the parents I need to talk to never show up! I get the good kids parents only and not the hard asses parents. Funny how that works! Tell us your back to school night memories! Having no kids, I've never attended a back to school night, but, for my parents, it was always the same. "Your son needs to stop talking in class." [Edited 9/11/07 20:50pm] a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

"Yeah, Nicholas generally does very well, but he could do better" Its kind of an equivalent to your parents' evening I would guess. The kids go to the class by period and have 15 minutes in your room to see what you learn in the class, what your rules and standards are, ask some questions about your philosophy of education and their student and grub on free food and watch the atrocious school choir get out shined by the awesome band.! I could never handle doing parents' evenings here. Good thing I never had to. Just writing reports and evaluations of students' performance was bad enough. I remember on one general class report I wrote about how certain things betrayed problems at home and discipline issues that suggested parents weren't spending enough time with children (spoiled/neglected rich brats). It was pretty scathing and direct. It didn't go down well with my Thai superiors and I'm pretty sure the translated version was nothing like what I'd written. They basically marginalised me after that and when the parents came in for a special day of demonstrations and presentations by the kids I wasn't even up there with them during the English language part. Maverick foreign teacher! Can't have him upsetting the big fee-paying fathers and mothers.

Well, I don't have any kids, but my parents always heard the same thing, "excellent student, but she talks too much"

I loved them because it always confirmed what I'd said to my parents.
"Ben you should do economics at oxford" "I fucking suck at economics. I wanna do french and spanish at UCL" parents' evening: economics teacher: "Ben is certainly not oxford material in economics." french teacher: "Ben loves french, his passion is clear. He could do french at Oxford." spanish teacher: "Ben loves spanish, but would not make Oxford. UCL has a good spanish department though." My parents: "oh."
