We're used to losing. We dont build ourselves up by saying we can win any major tournament and then go suicidal when we go out in the quarters.
I have fond memories of England beating us in Euro 96,beautiful day,Mcallister missing a penalty,Gascoigne tapping the ball over Colin Hendry's head then running round him and rattling the ball into the back of the net.Still one of the best goals ive ever seen.

6 touches from keeper to back of the net.
you can see Gazza making his run from just after the halfway line.
What a fuckin' waste.

That goal IMHO is probably the best i have seen in a Euro game, stunning. I remember watching him at the Lane and he truly was a massive talent. I really think that if he had stayed on the right path he would have been one of the world remembered greats.

Sweden - Denmark ended 0-0. yawn

In the last World Cup there were only European teams in the semifinals, so the European championships should almost be like a "companion tournament", and yet it's totally inferior in both status and quality of the game, IMO (Denmark even won the Euros a few years ago ferchrissakes). I wonder why that is. hmmm
