Did ya buy any gorgeous things? I bought a very nice print for my new apartment (when I get it) of an Andy Warhol self portrait with a quote on it (across the bottom) that says "i wonder if it's possible to have a love affair that lasts forever." and some sunglasses and a cute little silver purse. |

Does it scare you that my first reaction when Ivy told me she had dinner with you that week was to sock her up? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

All up and down Queen Street. We had drinks and ate at Rivoli. I got a good look at eco from the outside through the window, but it was closed (we were 10 minutes too early) when I noticed it and forgot to go back. It reminded me very much of you, and I can totally see why you love the design of the place. lol. We had a very nice breakfast at a place called Epicure Cafe (I think). We ventured to Eaton Centre as my friend collects swatches from every city he travels to so we had to visit the swatch kiosk there, but we really were in and out and didn't spend much time there, but it was cool to see that area as well. We did the CN tower thing and had lunch up there. It was OK food, great views, of course. Pics will come later. I don't have a digital camera and none of the people I was traveling with did either, so we have a couple of disposable cameras worth of developing to do and I should get something out of it I hope. I'm not much of a photographer. |

Ex-Moderator | I should add, the hotel was in a perfect location, so even though it was nothing special it was right where we needed it to be. So thanks again for all of your advice, it really was perfect.
Oh, and my friend Denton who was traveling with me is gay, so we went to church street and had drinks there one night as well. We spent a good deal of time on the back patio at Byzantium that night. |

Ex-Moderator | I particularly liked being near the fashion district and walking along all the little fabric shops and such on queen street. I was saying to my friends, if we had something similar in Mpls (an area all together like that) I'd be inspired all the time. I'm pulling out my sewing machine again before I lose that. |

I love The Riv. I live one block south (you can see my building from the patio - it's the pretentious-looking condo with the mostly-glass facade ). Did you do the patio? Lunch? Dinner? What'd you eat? We had a very nice breakfast at a place called Epicure Cafe (I think).
That's just west of Spadina, on the North side. Pics will come later.

My pleasure! I was worried it was going to be a fleabag! Oh, and my friend Denton who was traveling with me is gay, so we went to church street and had drinks there one night as well. We spent a good deal of time on the back patio at Byzantium that night.
One of my best friends is a "dyke" and she used to love Byzantium when she was still living in Toronto (she's in New York now). I ate with her and her now-wife there many times and did the back patio on several occasions.

We had dinner at the Riv on the patio. My friend Katy and I shared a thing of sangria and I had the vegan banana curry. My friends had fabulous salads, one had tofu and a sesame dressing, the other was brie and berries, I think. All quite nice. Is yours the building with the crazy colored lights in one of the condos near the top? We totally noticed that building. |

I remember going in and out of some of those shops with my ex (we're still very close) when she was making something or other. Her collection's just been called "Toronto's newest It line" in a big fashion mag and she won a prestigious award. I'm so proud of her.

One window was blue, another had green and red, I think. We were trying to tell if it was some kind of club or something, and we guessed it was just someone's condo with some colored lights. |

At first, a different friend had convinced me (she wanted to see Ewan McGregor), but she forgot she promised to baby-sit for a friend. So now I'm thinking, if I go at all, it'll just be to have a gander from a distance. This'll probably be the only chance I ever get to see the Woodman in the flesh. [Edited 9/10/07 19:05pm]
