here's what I usually do if I am unsure of it being funny or not, I tell it to the master and then he tells it to everyone else, and if it falls flat it's no skin off my nose!

Not often. Sometimes you have to hold your tongue even though you have a comment on the tip of your tongue. It's about judging the person in question's character and how they may respond.

I tend to say anything that amuses me, unless it's in extremely bad taste, and just hope for the best. I think people usually get it, but I do have a silly, odd kind of humour I put out there sometimes that I'm really not sure is funny at all. I tend to save that for the chat here or drunken e-mails to my parents.
