I like liquorice flavoured ones I get in China. With shells cos I hate faffing about trying to bite the shells off. if sexy was a colour it would be red

black liquorice? If so I usually eat the shells if I buy the prepackaged ones. If I take them out of the pumpkin and bake them myself I will crack a few open and just eat the meat out of them.

Every halloween I bake fresh pumpkin seeds, tossed with olive oil then salted. I bake on low for 30-40 min. The house smells great when the kiddies arrive.

OHHHH YUMMIE I was just thinking about how much fun it is to have your hands in the pumpkin guts pulling out the seeds. I carve about 6 pumpkins every year. It's slimey. I started using a power drill for carving as it's quicker..... You have to clean the seeds and rinse them off before baking and the stringy stuff is a pain.....

I make them fresh
I boil them for about 3 minutes 1st ( keeps centers moister and makes them less tough ) then broil them with olive oil and sea salt - sometimes a bit of different seasonings . [Edited 9/8/07 16:21pm]

Wow! So is this the first Halloween-inspired thread?
We baked pumkin seeds about 2 years ago after we made the jack-o-lanterns, but none of the kids liked them. However, we didn't do or add anything to them. Maybe we'll try again this year with a little more TLC. What's a good recipe? The olive oil and salt sounds easy. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

There's so many different spices ( like cinnamon, sugar, allspice) you can put on them before baking/roasting

Moderator | Yes to all of the choices! But, I love them just out of the oven and covered in salt best.
Ok I really need to go to bed... Now I'm probably dream of pumpkin seeds! In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

I love fresh roasted pumpkin seeds.
I like the them best simply roasted with olive oil and salt, but sometimes with a garlic salt and Worcestershire sauce mixture or sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. And while I pull off any strings and larger clumps of pulp before roasting, I don't wash the seeds, as the residue adds flavour and helps to hold the seasonings. [Edited 9/9/07 8:32am]

I eat packaged pumpkin seeds whenever I can't do the fresh ones. Not nearly as good as the ones you make yourself. I just roast them with butter and salt. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)
