FILM 1408

Well I went to see it last night and I can honestly say that it was a load of crap. It was not suspenseful or frightening. After the film ended my mother in law and I turned to each other and both said at the same time "Well that was a load of bollocks!". Felt like getting my money back for false misrepresentation. It was so boring that I had to pinch myself from not falling asleep. I would recommend to anyone that they wait for the video.

Has anyone else felt the same about a film they went to see. The hype just doesn't match the film!

One film that has got a good write up is Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon. My sister in law has seen it and says that it is a good film. As for 1408 I guarantee you will be disappointed!!

Yes, I've been played by the hype before and it always irritates me.

As far as this movie goes, here in the states there was no hype about this movie and I thought it was a good movie. So did everyone else I talked to who saw it. It was one of a few Stephen King stories that translated well to film, IMO.

I use www.rottentomatoes.com which has a ton of reviews from all over the country to look at what the majority says about a movie before I go and see it. Sometimes though, people just don't get the movie. shrug

Yes, frequently - especially when it comes to horror or thriller films.
My best examples have to be 'The Village' and 'Lady in the water' - hey, same director! The trailers were brilliantly edited but the whole experience of sitting through both was about as memorable as Victoria Beckham's solo career!
I actually walked out half way through 'Lady in the water' and got my money back - it was the most boring plot ever and hardly scary at all.

As for 'The Village,' which was tipped as 'the #1 worldwide thriller,' again a completely dull plot that didn't really go anywhere complete with an instantly forgettable cast.

I also think 'Star Wars: Phantom Menace' was really overhyped and I know I'm not alone there.
