Now, look at this! Anytime, more are always welcomed.Thank you. Yes, Bangkok is a lively city. It's got beauty and chaos and some terrible desperation and poverty alongside almost western-world modernity. I've got to say I'm glad we live almost in Nonthaburi province on the outskirts of Bangkok. A few turns from the main road, down some small sois and it's like living in a village. One that's rapidly being built on like there's no tomorrow, but it's still a totally different feeling to being in the city. We're close enough to venture into town quite often though and because I spend some many quiet hours around here amongst the greenery I find the relatively brief pockets of time spent in the city amongst all the people exciting even after 6 years out here. I'd not live in the city, but I do like getting in amongst it and being part of that energy. There's no military presence around here, nor in most of Bangkok. Only around prominent government buildings, the U.N. building etc. The expressways remind me a lot of the US, with the huge billboards and toll booths. It's nothing like the UK though, which doesn't really have either of those things. Besides that sudden hit of humidity when I walked outside, tt was the first thing that I remember feeling excited about, sitting in the taxi from the airport my first time out here zooming along over all the people below. You know, when you get that cool 'wow, I'm in another country' feeling. The canals are an amazing way to travel and you just turn your head around all over the place looking at things. I just get a longtail boat occasionally when I'm in tourist mode. I'll be going again in November when my family come out here for the wedding. Glad you liked the pics.

No matter where you go, there are always mountains that enclose our valley area, and when people come to visit, they usually marvel at our mountains or continuous mountains in all directions. They are not hills.
Unlimited hiking, absolutely... which will be what I share next, but later. I have to get ready for work.

The Market place My tube station
I miss you. I absolutely love how the market places exists outdoors. I don't get to see that here. Nor would we ever have subways. Yet your work place looks so Americanized. Even in Paris. You do live in a fantastic city, but just knowing you are there and looking at a map on my desk, truly makes it so worldly. ![]()

Hey birthday twin. I remember seeing these some time back, and indeed you live in an incredible place. Seeing all that you have shared, really gives me a sense of Amersterdam. I am sure it's only a spec of a vision. Do you have underground parking in your living quarters. Plus, you are fortunate to travel literally all over the world.

The landscapes and even the strawberry stand looks identical to Arizona. We have tons of citrus or orange fruit stands right up the road from where I live. Now out side of this place...
Is all of this (and so much more) and only 30 minutes to no more than 2 hours away. (with the exception to the Grand Canyon) We have Sedona, Prescott, Payson, Superstition Mts., and the Grand Canyon... Montezuma Castles... the list goes on and on... Arizona is truly diverse all in it's own natural mind.
Havasupai Falls (Grand Canyon) 5 hours away
And, we have some of the best images of these...
I do not like the city, but I don't waste my time or day just because of where I live.
Now it is time for yard work. [Edited 9/7/07 8:41am]
