my confidant. my mother. i'm so numb right now my head hurts. massive heart attack. she was only 65, but had a lot of health problems. diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma and was dialysis. part of me feels relieved that she no longer has these afflictions to deal with, but the selfish part of me wished she could be here forever. i just wanted to talk a a little. thanks for listening chris, aka fury, aka meltwithu I am so very sorry for your loss..... I am very sorry for your loss. My Mom died at 63 from emphysema; I know the hurt you're feeling. It's hard to do right now, but try to focus on how lucky you were to have her for so long. There are a billion people who'd trade places with you in a heartbeat. One great blessing in a situation like this is that she knew how you felt about her. You were able to tell her everything she needed to know, and to hear. That is something that will comfort you forever, trust me. She will always live in your heart, and you will see before long that she really is with you at all times. God bless you. You and your family will be in many prayers, and you will never be alone.

I just want to say THANK YOU..to everyone.
your words have been very kind and appreciated. it's strange, but i put on my "Parade" LP and somehow felt very comforted by it. and when sometimes it snows in april came on, i just kind of went numb. i have always gravitated to this song in times of sorrow, but it just really hit me hard today. it hasn't quite been 24 hours yet, but i'm already missing doing the things that i had to help her with in her last 3 months--getting her dressed for dialysis (and having her complain that her socks didn't match her shirt), soaking her dentures for her, making her a bowl of quick grits to take with her oj and meds..even having to wipe her up after she used her bedpan. i told her a few days ago that no son should have to see all their mom's "goodies"..we just kinda laughed about it. i know every day will get a little better, but honestly i feel like i'm walking across a desert right now, with no end in sight. Peace to you. I read these threads with a bit of envy as me and my mother are not so close. So enjoy that closeness, even in the grief. Appreciate it and feel it. You can hold that love forever and keep her close in your heart.
