low-flying jumbo jets

freak me out confused especially since I don't live anywhere near the airport.

One just flew over my house and cast a big shadow boxed

it's only happened once before, and the other time it did a big loop and dropped it's fuel over the bay on the way back to the airport

they aren't allowed to land with all their fuel, so if they had just left, that is a heap of fuel to they have to dispose of first

some real, some imagined yes.

i used to dream about planes crashing on the farm all the time
realized much later that my sister was having the same dreams!
you can analyze them and figure out what they meant yada yada yada...

then not too long ago i was hanging laundry out on the line at the farm
and this slow moving low flying big military plane flew by...
everything looked and sounded just like one of my dreams
i wanted someone to validate that i was seeing what i was seeing
it was going so slow and low i thought it had to be in trouble.
that was the point in my dream where i would hear the impact and see the smoke
but it just kept going whew so i went to find mom and ask her if i was crazy lol

The shadow would be the same size no matter how high it was. Maybe the shadow just seemed bigger because the plane was flying slower?

I don't think that's true ... at this hour I don't have a scientific explanation for that lol

it would be a pretty dark world if that would happen ... it's something with the distance between the object and the surface, I'm sure and I think the power and the distance of the lightsource come into play as well ... who cares ... they shouldn't be allowed to fly that low anyway ...

ambient light between the plane and the ground lessen the intensity of the shadow to NOTHING usually

maybe the angle of the Sun to the ground does the same thing to low flying planes that it does to flag polls? Some of it is also that high fling planes cast a plane sized shadow but it is distorted by the light that is bouncing around between the plane and the ground.

yeah, it has happend here a few times. And we are like 50 miles from any airports.

Another time some fricking fighter jets flew over for some air show that was once again 50+ miles away. It freaked me the heck out!

Might that expline some of why the lower ones seem so much larger?

But think you can notice them if it falls over you. It is just like a slight shadow that is is really fast. I used to think they were clouds but then I realized they were moving really fast.

I find it weird when the shadow of a plane passes over me, too.

Even 6 years after 911, the sight of planes at certain angles freaks me out.
