Plastics, Glass, Recycling shit - The Vegan thread had me thinkin' So anyways,
The vegitarian thread had me thinking about other areas of my life where I've tried to make changes, blah blah blah. One of them is in the form of recycling or decreasing my footprint in that matter. I'm notoriously bad for buying paper plates and paper cups so I don't have to wash dishes But for the last month I've been trying to change this. I'm really trying to see if I can challenge myself by decreasing my use of paper, plastics, and glass , but also to recycle everything I can. I know that to many folks that don't live in the US, this seems rather silly as recycling is the law, but here in the US, it really is a personal choice, and one that most of us are horribly bad at. What do you do in your life to help out in this regard?

In what regard?
The Enviroment???? What a JOKE. I have a lot of trees in my yard. So I'm doing my fair share. I'm supplying all your asses with AIR! [Edited 8/29/07 8:06am] I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies Whats it all worth only the heart can measure It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside

What do you do in your life to help out in this regard? we have a recycled bin collection where I live in the uk but only for glass, bottles, and cardboard. I do try to recycle more but the laziness factor is hard to beat sometimes. There are a few supermarkets who are trying to reduce the amount of packaging they use as it is ridiculous. I think it is gradually sinking in that we need to do more though

I recycle every damn thing, even if they dont want it.
The only thing that usually is in my trash is food and used paper towels. If I had a compost then I dont think I would have regular trash. I use paper plates, but I recycle them too. BUT I always hear that our recycling just ends up in the same dump as the rest of the trash.

My housemate at university ate off paper plates. He said it was too help recycle. A flawed statement I cried, he just was too bone idle to wash up. There's Joy In Expatriation.

I've been at my desk twenty minutes and just realized I hadn't removed my shades. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

Can I recycle them for you? Yeah, why don't you go ahead. It's obvious I'm not using them correctly, and they'd be better off reincarnated as a diaphragm or a dildo. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

I drive a low emissions vehicle. I don't litter. I try to save energy as much as possible. I recycle whenever possible but I am guilty of the paper plates and cups thing. I refuse to come home and cook and then have to do the dishes as well. When I move into a house next year, I'm getting a dishwasher so I don't add to the landfills.

I was just screamed at on the telephone by an employee because I accidentally called her 'Pam' instead of Pamela. The rant was literally several minutes of how much she detests being called 'Pam'.
What's so bad about 'Pam'? Does anybody have any input on this? Oh shit, my hat done fell off

What's so bad about 'Pam'? Does anybody have any input on this? I dunno. I quite like Bill. I fell it lends me the authority and gravitas I otherwise lack due to ongoing hairsyle experiments.

Billy is a kid. Bill is the boss. You should tell people your name according on how you want to be treated. Especially if it's via email or over the phone. Yeah, I can see that. A 'Bill' would definitely be less self-conscious. A 'Bill' wouldn't wear a hat on a humid day; instead, he'd brave the moist attack. And he'd do so without trepidation. That's beautiful, but a bit too shiny and modern. But buttons on a coat or fingers in a fist would have been timeless wordplay. I wish Prince would stop mentioning mobile phones in songs.
