I never found you, Billy. I merely connected. Like clinks in a zip.

That's beautiful, but a bit too shiny and modern. But buttons on a coat or fingers in a fist would have been timeless wordplay. I wish Prince would stop mentioning mobile phones in songs. sad

Would you prefer it if he mentioned Telegrams and Facsimiles?

That's 'Billy' talking. What've you got to fear? What is it you grasp so loosely, of which the Pacific winds can wrestle from your fingers? It's fear itself, that's what it is!

You've lost me.

All his songs should be about starting fires to blacken the edges of raw meat.

I was just screamed at on the telephone by an employee because I accidentally called her 'Pam' instead of Pamela. The rant was literally several minutes of how much she detests being called 'Pam'.

What's so bad about 'Pam'? Does anybody have any input on this?

It rhymes with Spam. Maybe that's it?

I just want to say I'm doing more than my part now.

I'm looking into a business model to refurbish adult toys thereby decreasing the environmental footprint of various dildos, penius pumps, and blow up dolls, of which would fill a landfill 10 times over every year in the US alone. shrug

I'll let you know if I get any investors.

confused Okay, so I can't recycle my sunglasses into a dildo now? Will the refurbished adult toys be equal or more than 10% post-consumer butt-plug, with 90% or less other plastic materials? What's the ratio looking like?

I just need to know which bin to throw these things in. rolleyes

it was just revealed locally, that the recycling collection bins set up
for glass beside the paper and tin ones, have for a couple of months
just been hauled out to the dump as it's too cost inefficent to recycle.

nutty what?!?

this i don't understand. glass has been recycled since the beginning of glass and now there is no market for recycled glass? they said some hooey about being difficult to sort out food grade glass... but doesn't logic tell you that if it had spagetti sauce in it that it's food grade glass?

anyway. there is a public uproar. confused

that's horrible!

Maybe that's why recycling takes third place in the phrase "reduce, re-use, recycle" meaning it's not a bad idea but not nearly as important or controllable as the first two.

So anyways,

The vegitarian thread had me thinking about other areas of my life where I've tried to make changes, blah blah blah.

One of them is in the form of recycling or decreasing my footprint in that matter.

I'm notoriously bad for buying paper plates and paper cups so I don't have to wash dishes falloff

But for the last month I've been trying to change this.

I'm really trying to see if I can challenge myself by decreasing my use of paper, plastics, and glass , but also to recycle everything I can. I know that to many folks that don't live in the US, this seems rather silly as recycling is the law, but here in the US, it really is a personal choice, and one that most of us are horribly bad at.

What do you do in your life to help out in this regard?

i fashion most of my own clothing out of recyclable paper towels. that way, i do not use or pollute the planet washing my clothing. plus, after i wear an outfit for a while and it begins to shred i will trade it up for a fresh suit and use the old one as napkins, or kleenex. hope this helps,

thats crazy.
we should be going back to glass rather than plastic.

I always think its bizarre that I find old shampoo bottles and lotion and stuff made of glass at my grandmothers house.
Imagine dropping that in the shower.

I agree.. and now they are gonna produce plastic wine bottles! mad

Glass bottles with real corks were better for the enviroment.
And what happened to paper bags? Why are they all plastic now?
