I scored a brilliant goal this evening

I scored a cracking goal tonight. Power, precision and perfection. I got the ball from 20 yards out and smashed it into the left hand corner. We won by a lot too.

Anyway, what was your last sporting success whether personal or team wise? smile

I'M A DEFENDER..

And my team kept a clean sheet last night. If results go our way next week then we'll be champions. nod

Coaching my kids' soccer teams. They had a blast and it got them interested in the game. I hope they keep up with it.

I haven't lost a tennis match in years. But my favorite successes were in girls' softball. There were a few grand slams and close wins where I felt like a superstar. Even experienced some gutwrenching injuries just to make the scores. I really miss it.

The last brilliant semi-sporty thing I did was a 240 game in Bowling when I was 14 yrs old.

I can't pitch because I tore my rotator cuff throwing from centerfield to home plate to beat the season. smile I'm a hell of a catcher* these days, though.

Well done, JD. clapping

And like Carrie - I don't do sport. lol

The only times I've *ever* had any sort of sporting triumph were:

(A) in junior school, when I qualified in the 100 metres. Only because the guy who came after me - Martin, a much faster runner - had already been in about 4 different races and was knackered by that point. When we had the inter-schools sports day a while later, I came last in every single race. Totally humiliating. lol I think Martin was happy. And pissed off that I ruined what could have been his moment so spectacularly badly. giggle

(B) I love a game of pool and this one night, I went to this dodgy bar and all these blokes were standing around the table, acting macho. Winner stays on. Anyway, when I've had a bit to drink, I somehow manage to significantly improve my skills. I don't know why I got up to play - I wasn't looking for a 'challenge'; I expected to have my ass whooped - but omg... I was like Hurricane Higgins. omg Or someone. lol I was knocking those balls in left, right and centre. I whooped HIS ass. The guy I played was just > eek . He/I couldn't believe it, almost.

I acted like nothing had happened shrug but - secretly - I was creaming my knickers. lol

All a long time ago...

Jumped over 6m at long jump in the county trials and came third when I was at the very youngest age in my 14-16 age group. Never took athletics seriously though. Ran 100m in 11.7 seconds in my early teens too.

Had over 10 blocks in a school basketball game against the best team in the county. I scored all 6 or 8 or so points our team scored (all from the free throw line) lol and I got ejected for pushing a guy on the floor when he was on a fast break. falloff Happy days. mushy I also made every shot I took in a game against the teachers at our school, scored 20+ points and then was turned on by my whole team in the locker room for not passing the ball. lol

First time I dunked a ball, when I was 14, was a pretty cool sporting moment too. My vertical leap was a good 3ft then. God I wish it were now. sigh

As a high school basketball player dunking on Tayshaun Prince in a high school basketball tournament that my team was playing in! I have it on video and still pop it in and watch it from time to time! The crowd was like damn! lol

As a college ball player hitting a game winner with 1 second left. It was very Robert Horry esque! I was just hanging out at the top right of the 3 point line and a ball was swatted straight to my hands and I just shot it like a hot potato and it went in.

As a high school football player it was recording 15 solo tackles on defense and catching a game winning touchdown pass that clinched a playoff spot for my team.

As a coach I have two, 1) Winning my first playoff game last year 2) Sending several kids to college on scholarships.

Oh and also I scored my one and only header in the staff versus student soccer game last year! lol
