Grab yer ankles Italy!!! Carrie is coming to town!!!
September 28th until October 8th!!!!! We're flying into Torino for a few days, taking the train into Florence and then to Rome and flying out of Rome. Anyone have any recommendations where to stay for cheap? I don't care if they're hostels, but I do need a secure room to keep my luggage in. I travel with lots of shoes and they take up room. I'm sooooo excited I could pee my pants!!! HOSTILE EDIT!!! [Edited 8/28/07 7:24am]

I always recommend the Hostelling International chain. I've tried them in different parts of the world and they usually keep a pretty good standard, considering the price level.

http://www.hihostels.com/ What about luggage? I'm concerned about leaving my things in the room when we go out. Thank you for the link!

I don't know if I can recommend the Astrix II hostel in Rome Carrie, it's a bit raucous as is its owner Gianni. Its cheap and pretty secure as you arent allowed into the hostel during certain hours of the day for cleaning. However, if you are really budgeting let me know and I'll get some more info for you. Watch out for Gianni though he's a nutter. Just to wet your appetite...

The majority of hostels provide lockers for your possessions. Some lockers are coin operated, so make sure you have change! For others you may need to provide your own padlock. Many hostels also offer luggage storage. If you really want to make sure, I guess you'd have to call the specific hostel you're booked into. Thank you for the link!
No prob. | |

Yeah, he likes the women a bit. There's a number of decent places around the Termini rail station and all within walking distance to the main attractions. If you want a decent hotel (budget depending of cause) I can recommend the Dei Consoli which is a great 3 star hotel from what I remember. There's Joy In Expatriation.

I miss Italy already..
In here there are some hostels too: http://www.hostelworld.com I recomend Pensione Ottaviano.. An amazing place, loved it. Right next to the Vatican.. http://www.hostelworld.co...l-Rome-754 They don't have a security box in there, but if you bring your own lock, you can lock your stuff in your room... I'm not sure if it's safe enough for you, but I wasn't worried.. And when you're in Rome and visiting the vatican or st. peters, go to an icecream bar called: Old Bridge it's near the wall of the vatican, pretty close to the museum entrance.. It is the BEST!!! And if your staying at a hostel, and you can't get in during siesta, I suggest taking a nap at Villa Borghese park.. Allow me to introduce: Ms. Onder and Mrs. Donk! (o)(o)
