Parties! What's the best party you've been to? What made it so good? Were you the host? Did you party to the end?!... [Edited 8/28/07 14:29pm] There's Joy In Expatriation.

I'm thinking... I've been to lots of great parties. One in particular that stands out was my husband's promotion party from about 10 years ago. It was on the beach in Los Angeles. What made it so good??? Lots of free food and booze. It was on the beach in LA. Awesome weather. Good friends were around. Hell yes I partied til the end.

I just noticed this.
I live to THROW parties, and I'd rather throw the party than attend at someone elses house cuz I'd be thinking about what they didn't do rite the whole time. The best party I've ever been to I'd have to say was the one I met my huband at. It was Mmeorial day weekend and we stayed out the bush all weekend camping and then all went to get Pearl Jam tickets on I guess it was Monday morning. Anyways, I partied my ass off. Lots of mud wrestling, music, and recreational drugs. I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies Whats it all worth only the heart can measure It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside

How can I pick just one?! I'm quite fond of costume parties and beach parties and other parties that shall remain unmentioned.
If I MUST choose a favorite, it would definitely be the first time I drank: I was 18 and my friend threw a party in my honor! God, the whole fucking town was there. We jumped off the balcony (and later, the second-story roof) into the pool, had the cops in and out all night, and just had a generally fantastic time. There's no time like the first time! And yes, we partied until the sun had been up for a few hours, when we finally passed out. I woke up on the roof. [Edited 8/28/07 14:42pm] Oh shit, my hat done fell off

That sounds like fantastic fun. Unfortunately its too cold to have pool parties in England. Dont laugh, but its a risk getting the paddling pool out! There's Joy In Expatriation.

The best parties I have been to, were actually my two daughter's graduation parties, 2004 & 2005!
We had huge bbq's for both parties, with lots of yummy food and booze! When my girl's left for their parties, those parties turned into the adult fun parties...where we continued to do lots of drinking and laughing and having fun. At my youngest daughter's party, I even drank a college guy under the table. And towards the end of the evening...my best friend and I ended up in the tub in my bathroom, clothes on of course...but we wanted to jump in a 'HOT TUB' and since I don't own one...I used what I had! Those were some good times! I was so proud of my girls, and of me...I had to celebrate hard, because I felt since I had them so young in life...15 & 16 and I managed to get them through school, that I deserved a little bit of fun too. Other fun parties for me are always Halloween parties. I love to dress up and see what other people come up with. There's always lots of food and drink and contests.
Last year my husband and I were K Fed and Britney Spears. This year we're going as David and Victoria Beckham.

Back in the mid '80's, these guys bought an old warehouse across the street from NASA. They turned it into a movie studio - Panda Studios. There was a hotel across the street and they made a deal to name the suites after movie stars. The buzz was unbearable.
They threw the mother of all parties for the studio opening. My wife and I went to the pre-party, which was at an incredible house on Clear Lake. We met a few B-level stars. Pat Paulsen was one of them, so you can see there was trouble from the beginning. Then we drove to the studio. It had a long drive to the front entrance, and there were hundreds of people lining the street. We felt like stars as the valet parked our car and we walked up the red-carpeted stairs. There were a dozen or so photographers lining the door, and a popular disc jockey was announcing famous arrivals. Of course, we were nobodies but one of the photographers was a friend and he took our picture. When he did, all the other photographers started clicking away, just in case we were famous yet unrecognizable. That was the coolest part. I bet they took 150 photos of us in about 20 seconds. Even the DJ came over and interviewed us. The building had several rooms, each of which was a soundstage. Each soundstage had a different five-star restaurant catering food, and each room also had a regionally-famous band. There were different Hollywood props and stuff in each soundstage. I have never been so entertained or catered to in all my life. Everyone there agreed it was the best party ever. Unfortunately, the owners blew all their money on the party. They never filmed a single scene for anyone, and the studio was kaput in less than a year. But they had a helluva party!
