I don't think I get what you're saying boxed

Can anyone have no fears whatsoever -> no
Can anyone be afraid of 'nothing' -> since 'nothing' does not exist (imho) the answer here should be no ... but if nothing means 'emptiness' or 'the unknown' it is a firm yes...

I know I am biggrin

Well as Mushanga said: Are you afraid of something that's beyond your control, and wish you weren't afraid of? And if you've been scared of something in the past, how did you overcome it?

I am asking those who are never afraid of anything and believe either what comes to them they can deal with or maybe they feel they have nothing to lose, or they just are not afraid of the obstacles life puts upon them.

I used to be afraid of nothing, cos my life couldn't get any worse. It was as simple as that.
I'm still not afraid of much - not afraid I'll get raped when I'm out, or assaulted. Not afraid I'll die alone cos I like my own company. Not afraid of things beyond my control. shrug

Fear is about control. If you don't allow the fear to control you then you are not afraid. Plus it is all relative anyway, ones mans fear is another mans pleasure. Most people in reality only actually fear the consequence of something and that consequence is usually death because it is an unknown. If you are not scared of dying then in actuality there is not really much that can cause you fear.

lol I don't know why I'm not scared, I'm just not - I know I have a "don't fuck with me" face on when I'm out and about, especially if I've got the right kind of music on in my mp3 player evil What I usually do if I'm approached by somebody I don't know, like on the subway, I pretend I don't speak Swedish - it's a whole lot more effective to tell somebody to fuck off in rough American English lol I also think that it puts people off.

Only if you don't care about anything or anyone, including yourself.

I've had periods like this.

I guess so but those kinds of people don't usually live too long and die tragic deaths, because they don't use they're common sense.

The only innate fear we possess as humans is a fear of sudden loud noises...we can't do anything about that. Every other fear we have can be controlled and conquered.

I have often thought of changing my name to No Man. That way, when tough dudes say they are afraid of no man, they will be admitting I own them.

What are you asking? To be afraid of 'nothing' or whether someone is not afraid of anything?

I think everyone is afraid of something. If people claim to be not afraid of something in particular they usually are but have surpressed it deep into their unconscious mind.

i am literally afraid of nothing. as in, like, nothingness. it scares me to death. i get really deep existentialist funks where i question the purpose of every little thing down to a molecular level, and when i realize i'm on this spiral it always scares the crap out of me, because i worry that someday i won't spring out of that particular rabbithole.

so yeah. i'm VERY afraid of nothing. nod

Was that there before? I didn't notice your avatar either. That's odd. Maybe I've finally reached perpetual motion of harmonic convergence with the mind of the dreamer. Do I die now?

That's like an Ingrid Bergman tagline, that one. Or some publisher's blah on the front of a cheap Samuel Beckett tome. The poet, not the time travelling samaritan.

1995 -1996 Deputy Manager, GAP
Bergman's human heroin. A taste is beguling, wonderful and but investigating further will only serve onlookers curiosity as you dance with yourself in dizzying circles of ever-decreasing ratio over the balsa wood edge of the abyss of bliss and sink into its floor of eternal nothingness with no trace.
This shitty metaphor was brought to you by our sponsors, alienation, boredom and despair.

i love the idea of replacing job duties with stream-of-consciousness malediction. if that kind of shit caught on, i'd be all fists and elbows for a career in human resources.
