hope the man gets the help that he needs. i have always found it strange that the funnier, talented actors seem to have the most trouble with themselves...(i.e. Richard Pryor, Chris Farley, Robert Downey,Jr. River Phoenix, Jim Belushi, etc.) I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Hospital says Owen Wilson in 'good condition' but illness or injury unknown
at 20:45 on August 27, 2007, EST. Hospital says Owen Wilson in 'good condition' but illness or injury unknown. (AP photo) SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) - A hospital spokeswoman said actor Owen Wilson was in good condition Monday, a day after he was taken from his home by ambulance, but no one, including Wilson, was saying what problem might have led him to seek care. "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time," the 38-year-old actor said in a statement released through publicist Ina Treciokas. No further comments were expected, she said. Wilson was at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, said hospital spokeswoman Cynthia Harding. He was initially taken to St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica. He "is here in good condition," Harding said. The National Enquirer and Star magazine reported that the actor tried to commit suicide by slicing his wrist and taking pills, but there was no official word on why Wilson was hospitalized. A neighbour said a police car, fire truck and ambulance were outside the actor's gated house around noon Sunday. "These guys were kind of taking their time taking a stretcher out of the ambulance, then they went into the house," said neighbour Geoffry White, 61, who lives directly across the street. Santa Monica Fire Battalion Chief Jose Torres said Monday the department responded to a call that involved Wilson. The chief wouldn't comment on Wilson's injuries or condition, citing federal privacy laws. Known for his improvisational abilities, Wilson shot to fame after pairing up with Wes Anderson to make "Bottle Rocket" in 1996. The film also featured Wilson's brother Luke. The Texas native has gone on to star in films including "Wedding Crashers," "Starsky & Hutch" and "You, Me and Dupree." He was nominated for a screenwriting Oscar for 2001's "The Royal Tenenbaums." Wilson has been romantically linked to Sheryl Crow and, most recently, to Kate Hudson. The actor stars in the upcoming Anderson movie "The Darjeeling Limited." ©The Canadian Press, 2007 Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! Attempted suicide is always a liitle embarassing afterward.
"Superficial wounds"? I wonder if he even broke the skin. He's got it all though. Intelligence, freedom, good looks, money, respect - the lot. He was great in Zoolander. I like him, I hope he gets things sorted out small circles, big wheels!

Imago said: Guys, I'm not sure if this is a true story or not, as it seems strange that a man would have superficial cuts on his wrists. Normally, men who attempt suicides take very drastic measures.
My thinking also. ODing on pills and wrist slashing (even done "properly") are statistically more of a female thing. Men tend toward more sure-fire, violent and immediate ways to die. Guys attempt it less, but they succeed more... and when they do fail, they are very often left terribly debilitated. Whether Owen truly wanted out or just made some desperate, impulsive cry for help -- and assuming all these speculations are true in the first place -- I pray for the best for him and his family. i myself have become very "negative" towards the whole hollywood scene ... and this whole discussion just illicits comments that are both repulsive and hilarious ...
who knows if it is true . i heard on the "today " show (which has become somewhat of an "entertainment tonight syndication " - that his publicist did have a comment saying basically to "abide by his wishes and help him get better" or some crap like that ... who knows how they will spin it ... i personally think the guy is very creative and funny ... but i havent seen too many owen movies ...

Wilson was then transferred by ambulance to another LA hospital, the Cedars Sinai, around 9am (4pm Sunday, local time) where his condition was initially listed as "grim". He has since stabilised.
I just wanna know who the hell lists someone's condition as "grim"?? & who in the hell spelled "stabilised"
