Yes! A glider is not as dangerous as a regular plane. It is built and designed to "glide". The wind and air current are what keep you up in the air. Once you are up you can stay up for a long time or you have the capability to come down when you want. Of course if it is bad weather you wouldn't go up in the first place.

The "runway" I landed on was a grass strip. biggrin

Yes, you always have a plan for emergencies. Take offs are not hard since you have the tow plane providing all the muscle so to speak. All you have to do is keep is straight and level.

The landings I guess are a bit trickier, but that is true for jets as well. But, still they are not too difficult. You are able to see in the picture how close the wings are to the ground. You don't have much leeway to tip one way or the other. So, even if your landing is a little uneven it's no biggie.

Yes, the quiet is amazing. Floating above the earth and all of the chaos of day to day living is heavenly. biggrin

Thanks for all the info! It seems like a really cool thing to try. I'll put it on my to do list somewhere after ostrich riding. thumbs up!

I didn't even notice that the wings had wheels on them by the way. I'm sure that facilitates landing a whole lot.

I read last night geek that if an astronaut was on the moon looking at the earth during last night's eclipse, there would be a red ring around the earth - because they would see all the earth's sunsets and sunrises simultaneously! Apparently all the blue and green light is absorbed by the earth's atmosphere on the way past the earth or something lol

A solar eclipse hmmm I think I remember one too, except it was already a really overcast day.

Cankle n. A fusion of the words “calf” and “ankle,” a cankle is a very thick ankle - one which appears to be a continuation of the calf itself.
