I like how the "Don't Snitch" rule folds like wet paper when his friends are going to be charged if they keep their mouth's shut. [Edited 8/24/07 22:56pm] The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

I've lost all respect for Vick as a person...to take the plea bargain and
to imply that he's ONLY doing it for a lighter sentence is infuriating. I guess it's asking too much for him to step up and admit that he did a horrendous thing and pay the piper for it. His career is over...he will be blackballed from the NFL even if he only does a year in prison. Even more infuriating is the NAACP's stance on this matter...you cannot defend a person JUST BECAUSE he is the same color as you are...what the hell happened to "do the right thing"??? Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Am I the only one who thinks that Michael Vick, Foxy Brown, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are getting raw deals from the justice system? After all, they're getting jail time for DUI, dogfighting and violating probation while people like Lewis "Scooter" Libby, who lied to prosecutors about leaking the name of a CIA operative and thereby jeopardizing our national security can get a pardon from the president and not do jail time. Where's the justice in that?
Driving under the influence = hours in jail Drug possession = days in jail Dogfighting and cruelty to animals = a year or two in jail Leaking the name of a CIA operative, jeopardizing national security and putting us at risk of further terrorist attack, while spreading falsified information to invade a country which did not harm us, leading to the deaths of 3,500 American soldiers and the permanent injury of 25,000 others, not to mention the deaths of over 200,000 innocent civilians and nearly a trillion dollars poured down into a war with no end in sight = a slap on the wrist and a presidential pardon. Seriously though, what Michael Vick did was pretty disgusting, but he took the plea deal to avoid being brought up on racketeering charges for gambling, which would have put him in jail for 10 to 20 years. However, I hate the way the media is portraying the whole episode, which is to imply that these dogs were sweet little pets that were picked up off the street, and that this is a rare occurrence. In fact, dogfighting (and cockfighting and other cruel and unusual animal contests) are pretty common, especially in the South, and most of the animal recruited for these events are strays who would otherwise be put down because no homes could be found for them.

This is like asking me in one single question if I ever ran a red light or killed somebody, expecting a single "yes or no" answer No, Vick is not getting a raw deal, and neither did any of the afore mentioned celebs. They got what they deserved, or even less than that. As for Scooter Libby, he got far less than what he deserved, but the comparison is irrelevant--Vick's career should be over.

So, since it is so common, you feel the media should be portraying him as one of MANY who are doing this. That he is only the tip of the iceburg and we should be outraged and doing more to stop this? And that these dogs are potentially dangerous to begin with so should be approached with caution, but still treated humanely? I agree. |
