20 year old me would be very proud of the almost 40 year old me. She'd be proud I'm still here, be proud that I went back to school, be proud of the progress I've made in raising my three children and be proud that love is so much more important to me than sex. I have the job I always wanted and make 20 grand more a year than I was expecting to at this age and I'll be in six figures in two years.

my 20 year old self would be high as hell so probably wouldn't pay 35 year old me much attention....


but my 35 year old self would like to go back and slap the shit outta my 20 year old self for wasting alot of time doing aboslutely nothing productive...

And I am noticing something interesting about this question. It seems like people who answer the question really look inward and think about themselves, which is not a bad thing. But I don't think people care much about other people's answers. That's not a bad thing, but it goes to show you human nature is rather self-centered. I think people worry about other people's situations mainly to compare it to their own. Human nature??

I look at other people's answers and get a little jealous and competitive. I don't want to hear about other people making 6 figures. I start to get a little sad and wonder where I went wrong. But then when I say that, I can only wonder if anyone else really cares. Human nature, I guess.

I'd be excited with all the places I've traveled to, bored stiff at the thought of the job I'd be taking and moritifed with how fat I've gotten.

I'm not over 30 but I should imagine I'll look back and be regretful but really on reflection I'd have a lot to admire about myself.

20 y.o. me would look @ 40 y.o. me and say...

"WTF are we doing in the Army again?" Then he would see that I'm in position to get selected for another promotion, putting me one rank from the top of the enlisted heap, and he'd say "you go, you badassreneGade"....

...then he'd see that I have kids almost grown, and I'm taking my life to a different level and place and he'd be proud....

...of course, he'd love the fact that we still have enough hair on our head for gel...and that we still look good....that we've picked up weight in the right places....still turnin' heads....

all in all, he'd give me a big .....

20 year old me was engaged to my husband of now 12 years - she would take one look and go "OMG is THAT what marriage does to your figure!"



But then she'd see my 2 gorgeous girls and fall instantly in love with them and totally forgive me for having a baby belly!

...and once she's heard how 12 years of working hard at a marriage has gone she'd give me a pat on the back, be pleased that we stuck it out and ask for any tips to make her life easier!

And then I'd boast that I still get asked for ID at the pub all the time - bearing in mind I'm English and you can drink at 18 that is pretty damn good!
