actually I did like it a lot, but I'm not sure about some of the lessons, like "Always hang your head in shame, or you might drown!"

good question. And why is forcing someone into submission a sign that you're an uncle (as in "say uncle")?

I want to be the kind of uncle that gives his nephews beer & teaches him to swear, not the bad kind!

smile I saw they remade it with new illustrations, along with the old book packaged as sort of a history of the book.

every one is so horrible

"and the cats cried so much over the girl who burned to death that their tears made a river. The End. Good night, precious child!"

they DID make it into a stage play, or as they called it, a "junk opera", and instead of actors it was all puppets and marionettes. i got to see it, it was very cool. the music reminded me a lot of tom waits.

Looks like a book that intends to raise awareness about the consequences of sexual abuse. I wonder if it's effective. Would parents buy it for their kids?
