chief-in-editor ?

For those who haven't got anything on their hands...

I'm looking for a clear explanation of what is meant by the term 'chief-in-editor'. What are his/her tasks, in your opinion? I'm applying for this function at the European Festivals Association, and as I just arrived from Amsterdam and need to leave early tomorrow morning, I only have half an hour to prepare this.

Marie,

I'd say he/she is the one overlooking a team of editors who prepare texts for whatever reason. I think you should be very good in writing and you should be able to motivate the other editors to be at their best all the time. As a chief-in you have the ultimate responsibility of anything that goes out and the performance of the team ...

wtf did you go to A'dam the day before ur interview lol stoned

Thanks ! I'm checking five sites at the same time, hehe. I'm very surprised they invited me for a job-interview (as I have nearly none of the experiences and competencies they look for). I guess I'll have to see this as a 'rehearsal', but I like to avoid to make myself look like a complete idiot.

I've been to Amsterdam to see my new boyfriend. We have so little time together, and that's why I've arrived back in Belgium way too late. sad

An editor-in-chief, as has been stated, is responsible for reporters and lower-level editors. But, in many cases, the EIC also is the person who charts the editorial course of a publication and personifies its editorial voice, as well. As such, the EIC often is part of the editorial board of a publication and has a hand in not only the priorities of the news side of the publication but in the crafting of editorials, too.
