LOL, judging by the amount of run he gets on Yahoo, some guy named Pete Doherty is supposed to be the bad boy of British rock.

A bigger looking wuss I have never seen...

Well...physically, I swear the day after I turned 31 stuff just started aching.

When I was 35-36 was when I started thinking that teenagers were weird, and their music left something to be desired lol I swear I will never understand why the hell "crunk" music was/is so popular..it just does not sound good to me. Same goes for a lot of the "emo" stuff out there right now...most all the lead singers sound the same shrug The first time I ever heard a song by Panic! At The Disco, I thought it was Fallout Boy shrug

Although I have never heard any of Babyshambles or Oasis' songs, just by looking at Doherty and the Gallagher brothers, I find it hard to believe there is any redeeming rock value.

Am I right?

Yes, whatever happened to the charismatic lead singers of bands? People with a distinctive voice, look and personality. Even the 90s weren't that bad compared to this bunch of clones.

The first 2 Oasis albums are actually really good. They should have given up after that though instead of outstaying their welcome.

Actually, I am just confused by the org. First everyone says that beauty fades with age and now I hear that it actually gets better.

Which is it, damnit??

What is "emo"? What are some examples of emo bands/singers?

All I can think of is that comedian, Emo Phillips.

Naw, son! You definitely look worse when you get older. Just look at "Don Rickles". They should call him "Dijon Wrinkles".

He was the person I thought of when I heard thaat word for the first time!

Apparently it's short for "emotional". So they're really some over-styled pretend Goths playing mostly mid-tempo Soft Rock that sounds like one elongated drone.

Well, musically, "emo" refers to bands like Fallout Boy and Panic! At The Disco.

As far as the "look"...it's like this...

they really aren't emo. they're punk/pop. lol i think it's more that whatever's popular with kids who like skinny jeans and dye their hair black automatically gets labeled emo. shrug

LMFAO. I like that one song "Thx 4 the Memrs" or something like that. It does sound wimpy though, and now I know EXACTLY what you mean by the emo people!

I started feeling old when I showed my i.d. at a club and the bouncer at the door called me "ma'am" and didn't really look at it. I was like, omg and my friend started laughing.

Then at the Musicology concert, I was in the 2nd row one night. I thought I looked hot in this black knit dress with fringes at the bottom. wink
I had gone to the ladies' room, and on the way back, one of the prince guys was passing out wristbands to the girls that were going to dance on the stage during "Kiss". The guy reached past me and said, "Excuse me, Ma'am" and gave a band to this young girl next to me. Like I said- I thought I looked hot. I actually didn't want to get on stage, but damn! pout

That's when I really realized I was getting old.... sad

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

Hey, we´re pretty much the same age and I don´t feel old either...I guess it depends on genetics and how much we label ourselves as "old".
Two weeks ago I went to London to see Prince ( Aug.7, main and aftershow...FANTASTIC !) and I was already a bit worried that I might get a bit tired because I had to catch my plane the next morning and I had already read concert reviews written by much younger orgers who kinda felt tired and exhausted after the aftershow....so , I thought I ´d get tired , too.
And I couldn´t sleep the night before I flew to England because I had too much coffee and had gone out on the weekend...but I still felt great during the two concerts and was shaking my ass like crazy during the supertight and superfunky aftershow. My only problem were my burning eyes. Then again , I had two small bottles of original Japanese Lipovitan-D before the show started. So, all in all , I partied two consecutive nights without any rest at all. I guess it depends on what you do...whatever you do , as long as it´s fun to you, you won´t feel physically tired, exhausted or old.
What´s bothering me a bit is that society is trying to convinve me to feel old when I really feel very young. I actually feel better than I did in my 20s due to my workouts and good diet.
30´s the new 20.And you´re not old...
lol

there's parts of youth culture that I like cause I grew up on it, but I almost always know the roots of it and the stuff that came before. When I listened to hip hop or even stuff today, I love pointing out that this and this sampled this and this from the 70's or 80's, and people my age have no idea. My dad used to say that to me, and it helped me expand my musical knowledge as well and get interested in discovering older music I may have missed out on or vaguely knew of. A lot of people say the 90's were crap in terms of music, but people my age miss the 90's when it comes to music and I can relate to some of that because those times seemed so happy and carefree and there was music to go along with it, but most of them don't really appreciate the 70's or 80's as I do when it comes to r&b, pop and rock. I like some of today's r&b and rock as well, but I can't listen to it without being reminded of something older most of the time.
