Mushanga said: CarrieMpls said: You can take birth control pills straight through for 3 months and then let up a week. And start in again. The idea is to only get your period once every 10 weeks that way. I tried it a few years ago on my doctors recommendation but I get so messed up from the hormones it's just not worth it to me. Serious depression and just plain crazy/schizo feeling. But worth a shot for anyone who isn't affected like I am. I do the 2-3 month birth-control pill -thing. It's the best! Although I have really massive bleeding during my periods (super sized tampons aren't enough), sometimes cramps in my stomach and back and the mood swings are just un-bearable... Atleast I don't get 'em every month! I remember one lovely summer, when I had my period, mono and a horrible snotty flu.. Eating always helps me too.. Plus hot drinks and putting a warm towel on my tummy.. Or when my boyfriend keeps his hand on my tummy, the spot where the uterus is, it relaxes me a lot.. Hope you'll feel better CalhounSq... Thanks Just woke up from a much needed nap, I feel slightly better...

If periods are very very crampy and also if you have a heavy flow you can ask your Dr for a D & C. The cramps seem to relate to the cervix (as in giving birth). The D & C stretch the cervix and also scrap out the womb because also the lining of the womb (which can get thick and heavy) also can cause cramps but mostly the cervix. The scrap restarts the lining of the womb and the cervix which gets stretched seems to give some respite from the awful cramps.
The only other old fashioned remedy was to have a hot water bottle to your tummy. "I may not agree with what you say but I'll fight for your right to say it"

She seems to be an ideal candidate for the D & C procedure. "I may not agree with what you say but I'll fight for your right to say it"

I doubt that she'll do another procedure...she had a tubal ligation done after our daughter was born in '92....in 2001, she had an etopic pregnancy, where the fertilized egg attached itself to an ovarian cyst....and the cyst engorged with blood then burst....she almost bled out before she got to the hospital, then the doctors forgot to stitch something inside her before closing her up and she almost bled out again....long story short, she said she'd rather be hung by her fingernails than go thru another surgery..... I reckon you should just get ahead and cut your vagina out of your body. Now that wouldn't work my boy!! Anatomy not your strong point? CalhounSq You should consider the contraceptive pill, to bring your hormones under control. If you find a pill that works well for you, talk to me a bout a regime to minimise the number of periods you have. A colleague of mine used to have 4 periods a year using this method. The other option is bilateral salpingoophorectomy. Trust me, I'm a Doctor!

It is not surgery as such but a simple procedure which takes about 20 mins and she goes home the same day. There is no cutting and it is done under local anaesthetic. When I had my done I felt I was given a new lease of life and never suffered from any severe cramping even when my periods got heavy.
