300 workout!! So I'm sitting here, bored to tears on a Sunday morning....and I'm looking for a way to supercharge my workout plan prior to getting out of Iraq 11 or so weeks from now.....so of course, the rock hard, chiseled look throughout the recent movie 300 has provided some inspiration....the majority of those bodies were crafted through hard work...not 'roids, not CGI...(if you want proof of life, go to www.gymjones.com....definitely not for the weekend workout warrior)....the trainers and the actors were in the gym 10-12 hours/day, 5 days/week, for 4 months before and during filming....PSYCHOTIC!!!
ANYway....there are a couple of plans available to get started on the way to that particular goal, and I'm considering doing them both....at some point.....there is a 300 program and one that I refer to as the 150/half a spartan program.....which would you do? Or, more importantly, would you do either? For me, I'm working towards my cape, shield, and sandal boots..... The 300 Workout (done with NO REST between exercises and to be done by people in TOP PHYSICAL CONDITION): 25 pullups Deadlifts w/ 135lbs-50 reps 50 pushups 24 inch Box jumps-50 reps Floor wipers-50 reps Single-arm Clean and Press w/36lb Kettlebell- 50 reps 25 pullups = 300 total reps The 150/Half a Spartan Workout (no rest; can be done by moderately fit people): 15 bodyweight rows 25 bodyweight squats 15 pushups 50 jumping jacks 20 mountain climbers 10 close-hand pushups 15 bodyweight rows = 150 total reps Who's down? Let's get physical, physical..... ...or am I ? He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

I've been hitting the gym like crazy as a way to relieve stress from the insurmountable work I've been loaded with this month. It's helping.

I keep having this image of me getting to about 10 reps and running out of hops....so that rep# 11 has me face-planting on said box..... ....and I quoted ONJ because the Physical vid came immediately to mind when I read the workout....and because if I'm successful with this, I'll be able to wear booty workout shorts..... i've been way too distracted this month to keep up with my workout routine, and i've only been able to go once or twice a week as a result...unless you call packing moving boxes a "workout"?
anyway, the "half a spartan" routine doesn't look so bad. i mean, it looks fairly brutal, but it looks like something i could certainly survive. i'm not sure what some of those exercises are, but i can usually get through 10-12 reps of any exercise, and i like the no-rest-in-between rule. the "extremely fit people ONLY!" proviso for the 300 plan makes me pissed off enough to want to try it, though.

I'm sorry, but my jaw is still on the floor from the 10-12 hours a day @ the gym
I had a good week, only went 3 times BUT it's better than the last few weeks of 1-2 visits. Sucks when you reach a goal then fuck up for a few weeks b/c each week is a struggle just to get back to where you already were instead of continuing to push forward But whatever, I'm within 1 lb of my lowest weight in years & probably have about 5-7 lbs to go. I thought I'd be maintaining by now but I'm still losing, if I can have good weeks from here through September I'll be entering the maintenance phase by October Tight sweaters all winter, that's the goal TOTALLY SHALLOW

I think that's awesome But I'm shallow, so I would Seriously though I have a new appreciation for my body that I've never had EVER in life. Maybe it's getting older, but after that 5-7 lbs I will indeed look better than I ever have physically. So as long as being in the gym/mirror doesn't take over my life & encompass all conversations, what the hell. My boobs are still perky (for their size, thank God!), my ass is headed toward the sky, it's all working out

Are you trying to insinuate that I utilize a wee bit too many metro-man products....? I'll have you know, sir, that I exercised extreme restraint the other day....almost bought some Bed-Head Concrete hair gel.....$17.95... I'm metro....but not THAT metro.... Ideally, you'd do it after your regular workout, at most 3 times a week....as an addition, not in place of, whatever you're already doing..... I agree the half spartan is a wee bit feathery, but in that case I would do 3 circuits of it.....so at 450 reps total, you'd be a Spartan and a half....
