you must admit that when u see an ugly person in the mall you instantly turn away like I do.....

I have a friend who's 26 though she looks 30 years older in terms of how she dresses and presents herself. She wears huge glasses, and jogging suits with flowered turtlenecks and old lady blouses. She's very mature in some ways, and young in others. She's full of wisdom I think, and has a lot of potential. When I was first introduced to her in my freshman year of university by a friend, I did a double take cause I couldn't believe she looked like that, but I ignored that completely and she turned out to be a great person. Sometimes my other friends will comment on her looks when they see pics of us with other people, but I'm just like "but she's really nice" and leave it at that though I also think a makeover could benefit her and work wonders for her image and boost her self-esteem. Remember Tula in the beginning of My Big Fat Greek wedding? She looks a lot like that.

It depends on whether they've got something interesting to say.

From my own experience, I can say that ppl who are not considered attractive often turn out to have great, fun personalities (at least more frequently so then the "underwear model" types). Beauty like any other luxurious commodity can completely destroy one's sense of self: to a weak person it can be a powerful and devastating drug.

This is not to say that all extremely beautiful ppl are uninteresting. I've met many gorgeous looking folks who were smart and down to earth.

On the other hand, unattractive ppl can also be shollow. Or painfully shy. So shy you can hardly make any contact with them.
