COMPUTER ADVICE NEEDED!!

I download torrents and other stuff and I have an external hard-drive of 80GB and I normally download onto my C Drive and also basically do a lot of juggling about between my C Drive and my external hard-drive, in order 2 rip, burn and convert file formats(like from flac. 2 mp3, etc.). Right now my C Drive is near enough empty of files like complete bootleg folders, etc, and my external hard-drive has some download, but its not full 2 capacity!!

The problem I am having is that on a regular basis I keep getting notices saying that my C Drive is full and that I have 2 compress old files and get rid of unwanted files and folders, yet my C Drive is virtually empty of downloads nad a lot of my programmes are in my external hard-drive!! So I know that I have plenty of space in my C Drive!! Also, when I come 2 rip and burn stuff, I am unable 2, because my burn/ripping programme keeps coming up with notices saying that I dont have enough space for this action!! As i download and burn, I delete everything, so I know I must have loads of space in my C Drive and external hard-drive!!

What do u guys think could b the problem?? I am getting desperate because in all honesty this is not my computer, but my dads and he will kill me if theres anything wrong!!

Thanks, guys biggrin biggrin biggrin

Turn off compression for your entire C drive. Windows Compression does jack squat, and actually takes up just as much space if not MORE than if you had it off the whole time. Right click the C Drive and uncheck the compression box. Then do that for any compressed folders that didn't have compression turned off. You can go into Windows File Explorer and change your view options to see compressed files and folders with blue text.

Then go download and run this app. It's like Windows Explorer, but it will show you how large your folders are. You can track down any folders that might be temp files that can be emptied or deleted

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another
