The buzz around here has been nothing short of astounding.
I've never read the books as I always took them for children's books, but I'm told by friends they're pretty good. I've also only ever seen the 4th movie. So picking up this book and reading it would be kind of strange for me. | |

She spared all the students, killing off disposible auxiliaries. Harry can buy a new owl, and who cares about Dobby and Mad-Eye Moody? She redeems Snape, who obviously had to die, and even made Draco and Harry pals at the end. And GASP... Harry is a horcrux! Who didn't guess that? Everything is so easily smoothed out, but it seems such an American thing to do. Where are the real twists or the true losses to bolster the joy? I'm not a true Harry Potter reader, though -- merely struck by the fever at the moment -- so it's entirely possibly I'm speaking out of turn. i gave up on the books at the 5th (worst book i ever read). i wanna just find out what happens.

So. As I was stuck on trains, busses and trams yesterday I had LOADS (yeah, I said loads you dirty minded sod!) of time to read it.
I liked it. She did not make the ending to lavish; I am glad she stuck to her original story. And why did she say TWO major characters would die? She killed off WAY more. I must admit I was saddened most by the fatality of the first non-human... I went like 'nooooo!' But yes she did. |
