How much sleep do you need on average a night?

I'd say I need about 7 hours sleep a night to feel refreshed in the morning. Ive not been sleeping well lately and have opted to go to bed earlier so that I can get enough rest for work.

You?

I can get by on 5 hours, but even if I have 8 it does depend whats on my mind. If I am stressed or worried about something it doesn't matter how much I get !
It's a mess, ain't it, sheriff?
If it ain't, it'll do till the mess gets here

Depends..I can function on very little sleep for a long time...weeks in fact but then i need to have a shut down and re-charge. If it is on going and i cant do the shut down then i need 5-6 hrs a night and i am ok.When i have deadlines etc and i push it i can do 2-4 for a while.

7-8 is good for a person. functioning on like 4-5 is possible if needed

Spookymuffin

When I have a job about 4-5 hours a night because I suck at going to bed early for work. mad

I need about 8-9, so I usually crash on friday evening energy-wise (I am right now), and sleep about 11 hours.

I think I get 7-8 hours most nights. Usually asleep by 10:30-11pm and wake no later than 7am. This works just fine. Any less than 6 hours for more than 2 nights leaves me knackered and useless.

I really need 8 or even 9 hours to function properly. The thing is, I'm a night-owl as well. One of the reasons I'm reconsidering my teaching-job, as I'm always, always tired.

I would pay a big amount of money for needing less sleep, for sure.
